Cinematic Spectacular dinner package questions

The menu options look good, how's the food? I read in another thread that you eat dinner and then come back for dessert, that sounds awesome What do they offer for dessert?

How is the view? Will our 10 yr old be able to see?

We were very disappointed in food last few visits. It does seem to be a bit and a miss. Not sure how the desserts are now. If you do a search there should be some threads about it.

The view isn't bad from the viewing area there, Your kid will be able to see.

But, the view is decent anywhere around the lagoon.

Hmmmm, that has me second guessing it. We could probably buy a quick service dinner (that we know we'll like), get dessert and save money.

If we were to nix the pkg, and go with a spot around the lagoon, what time should we look for a spot? We'll be there the last week of August

Lots choose over by Mels Diner and around the NY area.......you get some good firework views from that side.

And you don't need to be there ages before it starts either. We usually turn up around 10/15 minutes before hand, sometimes as it's starting. I would see how busy it looks if you're around that area and just judge from there......

We tend to go and sit by the side of the water down from Moe's Tavern........still get a good view, but we've seen it many times.

Big pink donut is a good dessert and feeds a few folks........they also do a big pink donut sundae......now that is nice!

We have been to Lombards twice. Never again though. I have never had to stake out a spot for the show, although it can get crowded around Mel's as Schumi stated. We are usually by Duff Gardens also. That's one of my favorite spots in US any time of the day.

Decision made! We'll stake out a spot and save the money...more souvenirs wooohooooo

Check out the food menu sticky Damo has made. I find it about the same price to go to a sit down and the QS. I enjoy Finnegans so maybe consider that instead of QS. My son and I just had this conversation last night. I think a hot dog and chips are around $13 at a QS cart, not including drink...

That's a good idea, and we like Finnegan's.

I'm happy we don't have to get the pkg to get a good spot, it gives us more options I've read that the show isn't all that great, but i've really wanted to see it since it came out and every year there was always a reason why i couldn't see it.

Yes, the show is cute......if you know the old movies it's more fun......we watch it if we're there in the area at that time. Fireworks are cute too.......not spectacular like MK, but subtle. We enjoy it.

Do they do the show in September? The parks seem to close to early for a fireworks show...

The reason they've don't do a MK type show is because USO is in a residential area with lots of restrictions.

Yay! Then I'll get to see it! I read the parks say they're closing at 7pm and it's not dark enough for fireworks then. I"m not happy about the early closing because I *LOVE* theme parks at night...

I've done it a couple of times. The food is ok. A little better than an Applebee's, but not gourmet by any stretch. The desserts are bite sized pastries/cheescakes and cookies. They also have a couple of soft drinks as well. The view is good for the video clip show. But you do miss a good bit of the pyrotechnics as your back is to most of them. You'd have that issue just about anywhere on the lake except for Mel's which would give you the best view of everything.

Overall I think the package is worth it. But I don't find it to be "must do" or anything. If it fits your budget (for time and for $) then do it. Otherwise, you won't be missing that much if you don't.
