Cindy's castle question

I read somewhere the castle is "dressed up" for the anniversary... how much did they dress it up? When they made the castle into a cake I thanked GOD I wasn't there. I thought it was horrid. I love the castle.. it's my favorite part of magic kingdom. This being DBF's first visit, I"d love him to see the castle as it should look.. what exactly did they do to it this time?

I like how they decorated it. However, its still 13 day's till my family is there, and I havn't seen it personally. There is a picture on allears.net, if you go to parks, then click on magic kingdom. Its the main picture. They have done gold figurines throughout the castle. With other gold decor. I agree that the birthday cake was a bit much, but they still left the castle pretty much the same this time. Just added a few things.

HAving been there three times already this year we have had the oportunity to study it a little closer. I have a great photo that I took but I have no clue how to post it. It's actually my wallpaper on one of our computers. Email me and I'll be glad to share it. THey actually did a great job, especially after the cake fiasco. THey just embellished the existing structure, added touches of gold and whimsy.

Truthfully, I like the way the castle looks now, better than before!!! It is decorated with gold around the outline. IMO, it is simple, yet elegant.

I also HATED the Pepto Castle Cake debacle, but I think the enhancements they have made for the HCOE are beautiful and tasteful, instead of gaudy and tacky as the Cake was. They haven't covered up the castle's natural beauty, they've merely dressed it up with some gold trim and a little architectual "jewelry". I love it.

I wish they'd lose the mirror (sorry, it just doesn't add to the castle to me), though. If they did that, I'd love for them to make the goldwork permanent!

I agree with some of that. I think the mirror thing is a little too big, but I do kind of like it, but it is way too large. It's fun to spot all the different characters up there. I love the new gold accents, but not sure if I would want them left up forever.

Thanks everyone! I don't know how to email from here or PM so I wasn't ignoring anyone.. just a bit computer ignorant. The additions are nice tho I agree that mirror is horrendous. I wish they'd take that off and leave the gold. it IS quite elegant! Wasn't there a clock where that mirror is?

I agree with the majority.
I like the golds accents. They could leave those on as far as I'm concerned. I don't easpecially like the mirror, but it's WAY better than the peptp pink castle cake.

I really like the castle. I agree, the mirror is a bit much, and borders on gaudy. They can leave everything else though and put something small and tasteful in place of the mirror once the celebration ends. I think it really dresses up the castle, especially at night.
