I have to admit, the following CNN quote does bother be:

"Others who were arrested also cooperated with police. Sgt. Scott Fear, spokesman for the U.S. Park Police, said they would be charged with demonstrating without a permit, which is a misdemeanor."

A permit? As far as I know, needing a permit to protest is not a new concept (ie, its been around since long before before Bush), but I still don't like it. If this is all they have to charge her with, I'm none too happy. How could needing a permit to protest be seen as constitutional?

And as long as we take this crap from our elected officials, and indeed even rationalize it as necessary, the politicians are just going to grab more and more and more.

Instead of American citizens justifying where and how they "petition their government", the elected officials ought to be the ones justifying to the citizen why they need this "security".

It is also a little bit strange that the police were more willing to arrest a protester than to enforce more serious laws.

No it isn't. My daughter was pulled over just last night. You know where the windshield washer fluid comes out? A couple of small contraptions on the hood of the car? Seems there is a little blue light on each one. And I mean little.

Anyway, can't have a blue light. Do I find it strange that the police aren't out enforcing more serious laws? Well, yes, come to think of it. Hey, could one of you fine folks help me out? I need a way to tie this into the Bush administration.

Somebody call Michael Moore.

You made my point. Blinded by your hatred.

You can't make this stuff up.

Oh yeah, Bush has been a terrific president............to paraphrase Bill Maher..........why paraphrase him, here's what he said:

"Mr. President, this job can't be fun for you any more. There's no more money to spend--you used up all of that. You can't start another war because you used up the army. And now, darn the luck, the rest of your term has become the Bush family nightmare: helping poor people. Listen to your Mom. The cupboard's bare, the credit cards maxed out. No one's speaking to you. Mission accomplished.

Now it's time to do what you've always done best: lose interest and walk away. Like you did with your military service and the oil company and the baseball team. It's time. Time to move on and try the next fantasy job. How about cowboy or space man? Now I know what you're saying: there's so many other things that you as President could involve yourself in. Please don't. I know, I know. There's a lot left to do. There's a war with Venezuela. Eliminating the sales tax on yachts. Turning the space program over to the church. And Social Security to Fannie Mae. Giving embryos the vote.

But, Sir, none of that is going to happen now. Why? Because you govern like Billy Joel drives. You've performed so poorly I'm surprised that you haven't given yourself a medal. You're a catastrophe that walks like a man. Herbert Hoover was a ****ty president, but even he never conceded an entire city to rising water and snakes.

On your watch, we've lost almost all of our allies, the surplus, four airliners, two trade centers, a piece of the Pentagon and the City of New Orleans. Maybe you're just not lucky. I'm not saying you don't love this country. I'm just wondering how much worse it could be if you were on the other side.

So, yes, God does speak to you. What he is saying is: 'Take a hint.'

-Bill Maher"

Amen, Bill.

A new game........the six steps to George Bush. ;)

Apparently Bill Maher has no problem making stuff up.

All you need to do is remember this one simple rule. George W. Bush is omnipotent. Everything is controlled by the almighty, George W. Bush. From Global Warming, to Cat. 5 Hurricanes, to murderous thugs in the Superdome, to Cindy Sheehan decimating her son's memory, to being pulled over for little blue lights, to chronic flatulence. It is all a result of of the all powerful George Bush and his powers to destroy mankind. Just remember that (liberal) mantra and you will be able to tie it all back to Bush. In fact, I bet he was the one that put that blue dress on Monica and stuck the cigar in Clinton's hand. :grouphug:

Don't forget the polar ice caps on Mars, they are melting because of the policies of the Bush Administration.

SgtDisney: Thank you! I can now explain to my wife that it's not her 3-bean cassarole that's causing my (ahem) "difficulties", but it's the President's fault! Phew! Now if I can get off the hook for not finishing all my chores... :teeth:

No flames from me. I'd cheer with you.

Ding, ding, ding, ding.........we got a winner here. First one to bring it all back to Bill Clinton.

Before I answer, let me say again that I respect the Lady's right to speak, especially in the light of the sacrifice her son made. I want to make it very clear that I am not NOT saying she should be slient.

OK, That said, There are several reasons she annoys me. First, she reffered to the troops in New Orlenes as "an occupation of New Orleans". Thats innacurate and inflamitory. Much of what she has to say seems to be inflamitory in nature, and I have a hard time respecting a person who reorts to that in any argument.

Second, I disagree with her on pulling the troops out. I can understand arguments regarding whether or not we should have invaded Iraq, but to go in there, destablize the country and then leave would be despicable in my view. Right or wrong, We made the mess and we must clean it up. We owe it to the people of Iraq. If we leave, the terrorists and seperatists willl take the country and it will be our fault. Thats not acceptable to me.

Third, she has placed this issue above her own family and the will of her deceased son. Her family begged her to stop, but she wouldn't. Everything I have heard about her deceased son tells me he would have been against what she is doing. Her husband has divorced her over it. I could be wrong, only she knows best here, but it still annoys me that she seems to going against the will of everyone she loves and therefore hurting them in the process.

There are other reasons, some of which are just the impressions I get that suggest to me that she is in this mostly for the media coverage. In the end, I dislike her techniques, her priorities and her views, and so she annoys me. However, I thank God that I live in a coutry where people with annoying things to say are allowed to speak, so I try not to comment on her very often.

I can support you on most of your reasons ;) Especially the first two. The last one, well I can't fully agree. I'm the kind of person that thinks forget everyone else - I'm going to stand up for what I believe in. So whether her family, her ex, or her son agreed with the war - that doesn't mean she dishonors them by stating she does not. If my brother decided to enlist tomorrow I would support him and love him as much as any sister could. But I would still be against this war, and if God forbid he did die in Iraq I would dang well be speaking my mind about it.

Don't worry, the prize for mentioning "Karl Rove" is still up for grabs!

You should get one of those "bean ladders". You put one in the pot when you're cooking the beans, and the little farts climb right out. I saw them in Montana. ;)

I think it's good that she is keeping the war in the limelight (though with Bush interjecting a mention if it at any possible point, it's not hard for it to be forgotten about.)

I was one of those who bought into the lies about the threats...and now I regret ever supporting this war. It has done NOTHING to make my family and I safer from terrorists. If we are/were so concerned about security, why don't we beef up security on Amtrak, ports, borders etc. Why don't we stop spending billions in Iraq and spend more money IN OUR COUNTRY!

I just heard they may give ANOTHER $50 billion for the war. Unbelievable! When will it end??

Remember as old (and boring) as the ding dings are, they are still George W. Bush's fault.

Oh, and George W. Bush made me mention Clinton as part of his grand scheme.
