We are going for 8 days, incl 2 travel days this october. When it was my time to call, I called by the book for 4 straight days - called the dine line at 7am. First day, I called right at 7, got put on hold for 10 minutes, then was notified it was sold out. Second day, same thing, called at 7am, put on hold, sold out.
I am now thinking about my strategy, I was calling the dine line and realized you could call w-disney as well. When I call that as a test, they mention the spanish option. I think back to when they had the spanish only line and think " I will keep trying the by the book way".
Third day, called a little earlier at 6:58 (then figured out they must open the lines about 3 minutes early), and got put on hold - sold out again. Next day, called at 6:57 got put on hold - got through (yea!) - said the reservation request immediately - then the agent starts talking about how busy I sounded and wanted to small talk - I stressed we needed to hurry and make it since it goes quick - He looks it up s l o w l y (he is having a problem) - then says there are only 2 tables for 2 each (we have a party of 4) - take it I say - oh, they are gone - I then talk to him about moving fast when the first calls come in and not expect leisurly conversation.
Fourth day, called at 6:58, put on hold, then got through - no tables again.
Ok, Fifth day, now comes the controversy

Second to last day I could try, so right at 6:57 I call w-disney, press 2 for spanish, immediately mention english and then request cindy's breakfast first available table. Immediately lock in the table and just like that I am in. No hold, no stress.
I have the reservation by calling an available reservation agent. Sometimes you have to outthink the people trap built by the mouse!
Take care and good reserving! Tom.
