if you click on characters > cinderella and then scroll to physical appearance you will find :

Cinderella is a beautiful young woman. She is tall, slender and softly shaped with a mild face. She has fair skin, pink lips and twinkling blue eyes. Her hair is burnt orange and shoulder-length with soft bangs.
Before her Fairy Godmother, she was often seen in a maid's outfit. She wore a dark brown shirt with blue sleeves and a skirt with a lighter shade of brown. Her hair was tied together in a large blue bow. She also wore matching shoes. In her princess gown, she wore a sparkling white dress with white glass slippers. Her hair was put into a bun with a black band over it. In publicity material, her dress is blue in contrast to white while her slippers has also changed to blue.

(my avatar is not from a pic of the orig movie, but thank you, i am going to change it to white :) )

to also further add (disagree/argue) her original hair was burnt orange, not blonde or gold.

Wondered this also after I saw the movie again, definitely white!!!!

When we were on the MAgic a few weeks ago watching the show Dreams, there is one segment that Cinderella comes out in a pink dress. my 3yo says it was Aurora, and I correct him saying its not.

His response was that she is in a pink dress and that is Aurora, that Cinderella has a blue dress. Then when She returns later in a blue dress, he says "See, THAT is Cinderella"

You cannot argue with that logic, blue for me.:thumbsup2

I've personally always thought it was more of a silvery color then white or blue.

Really enjoyed this debate/discussion! I also wanted to add, my DD has a Cinderella story CD, and in the story the narrator says "a dress the color of moonlight", which I thought was a perfect description of her dress in the movie - a silvery, white color!

I'm going with "moonlight."

It's as reliable as any wiki, which is to say, "not very." Anything that relies on user contributions is going to be fraught with errors.

well... later today i will contact disney and ask the question and hope for an answer.

With all due respect, When you call Disney, the CMs often can't even tell you what time the buses start running with any accuracy. I wouldn't trust them as a believable source.

For what it's worth, the fairy godmother mentions that she's making the dress the same color as Cinderella's eyes, which are definitely blue, not white.

Cinderella is being rereleased? I wonder when it'll come out over here, I might get it.

It's due out in North America on October 2, 2012. If you're a part of the Disney Movie/Blu Ray Club (not reward club), you can pre order it now. You have the choice of a 3 disc edition, and you receive a bracelet, a 6 disc edition with all 3 movies, a bracelet and a few other things, and the regular edition.

Off topic, i know , but the color of her eyes is different from scene to scene.
And it varies in the books/ merchandise.

As to Cinderella, it looks slightly blue to me in those pics, its different from the sleeves for sure...but I remember thinking that it sometimes looks white in the movie for sure. so I didn't answer the poll because it is both!! Fun to speculate..

So about January/February in England then? I hate how it takes aages for stuff to come out over here :(

And because Cindy's in blue Aurora's stuck with her dress in pink - yuck! I very much prefer Sleeping Beauty in blue.

The disney designer princess collection had her nail polish as a silver sparkly.... but i'm thinking its because there were a few other blues in the collection (ariel/jasmine)

I always thought it was a pale blue with silver sparklies.

also just want to add that the word "peplum" makes me giggle....its so silly sounding!

Why does everyone seem to be ignoring this part?

because technically the fairy godmother does not say that she is making the dress the same color as her eyes... she implies to make the dress color to compliment her eyes.

YAY!!! I found the "Walt Disney Animation Studios ARL: Animation Research Library" facebook page!! Here is the result:

ME: is this a place that can answer a question for me about the original disney movie cinderella??

ARL: Animation Research Library: We're not a service to the public; but if there is only one question to ask about the 1950 film, please feel free to ask, and we'll try to answer it.

ME: thank you! my one question is, in the original Cinderella film in 1950 was her dress a whitish/silvery dress or is it blue? this has been of great debate!! :)

ARL: Animation Research Library: A great question, since much of that dress appears in shadows or in night light. We have checked with the records at Ink & Paint, as well as paint notes on the clean-up animation. In certain shots of the film, depending on the environments and their "lighting," Cinderella's ball gown was either blue or silver! However, a closer look at the paint notes for her dress' standard colors, we saw that her dress in standard daylight is a form of white, which isn't nearly as interesting from a marketing standpoint, which chose blue to represent her in products and park walk-arounds. So, as you can see, this variation will keep the debate going for quite awhile!

ME: lol, thank you so much, that is just the answer i was looking for!!

lol, i am right!!!!:woohoo:;)

Here's an even more critical question....... how did the Disney parks Cindy end up in all one shade of blue (most of the time)?

I've always joked that it's so you can teach young girls colors. Snow White is yellow, Cinderella blue, Aurora pink ... my daughter knew her colors from the princesses way before it was "normal" ... lol
