Cinderella's Royal Table NIGHTMARE!

Your 1 yo is NOT entitled to free food. Disney very clearly says 0 - 3 yo can eat off of an adult plate. If you expected food for your little one you were misled. Maybe it happens for some, but you should NOT expect it.
What did you expect to happen when your 3 yo vomited?

Bit harsh....

She should have expected them to clean up the area with the vomit situation! Everyone should expect this in a restaurant!

Also, it does happen regularly were under 3 years get complementary food and if the OP would have asked, she wouldn't have been charged. They don't get the exact kids meals, but are offered a couple different options. When my 3 1/2 year old was younger she was offered a couple different options for dinner at CRT.

I must admitt alot of those replys are more than a bit harsh.
I cant even get into the CRT to even have an experience, I originally booked reservations several months ago for breakfast and Chef Mickeys and Dinner at CRT, in January I called to confirm my reservations and they couldnt find them so we rebooked them, a week ago the same thing so after spending almost ten hours on the phone in two days they said they were fixed and tonight I logged on to my Disney acct and noticed instead of CRT they had me at some other resteraunt and I called and was told there is nothing they can do and that was it.....
What do I do now, its like they dont even care.......

I would like to point out that most restaurant CMs are NOT trained in the clean up of bodily fluids if at all. That is a job for custodial. I know when I was working at the Derby if someone threw up or whatnot we could not touch it at all and had to call for clean up. There is a issue with possible pathogens and custodial CMs have the proper training. Even if they had wanted to help you clean up after your sick child they couldn't have because they are not trained too.

How did you ask for the milk? Did you say "Can we have some millk," maybe the server assumed it was for the tea. As for not asking for the child's food, sometimes it is assumed the child will eat from the parent's plate. In fact you did have the child eating from your plate when something wasn't brought automatically. I see you felt put out by having to ask, but I don't see what was wrong with asking. DIS reviews are not always indicative of what happens for EVERY guest in EVERY situation. Maybe the guests at the other tables did ask.

Taking the server aside away from the table (granted, maybe the adults didn't want to get up from the table with so many small kids there) and asking about the slipper would have kept from ruining the suprise.

I have to agree with all this. I don't see any server bringing out milk like that for any other reason.

As to food for the 1 y/o.... the OP didn't get what she didn't ask for... again, I can't see any problem there either.

Forgetting the slipper, someone obviously dropped the ball there. I agree that the OP should have asked away from the table, I certainly would have. I can't imagine trying to whisper a surprise within 2 or 3 feet of someone...

The CM should have acted more... receptive to the puking incident, I agree. I also agree that most severs in that setting won't clean up puke. Can you imagine seeing your sever clean up puke and then serve you food a few moments later? BLECK! Washing their hands or not... many people would be grossed out.

In all of my years going to disney, I have never...ever, seen or heard of a cast member just shruging off a child throwing up and having the adult guests clean it up.

This story sounds more like someone was upset and had a bad experience at CRT and decided to embelish part of the story to make others sympathetic

That really hurts!!!:sad1:

Things were really busy during our meal and we barely saw our server, and after reading all of the responses, I agree that I should have been a bit more proactive in getting our child food, and maybe trying to get our server's attention and making myself even 'more clear' and yes, I should have taken the CM aside to speak about the dessert. He was about ready to rush away though and I was stuck on the other side of the table (we had a bench seat) and I was wedged between the table next to us (they were a party of 6, so one of the chairs was touching the side of our table) and my husband who was sitting on the other side of me (we were really packed in) - my husband wouldnt have been able to take him aside either, because I'm the trip planner and he was just "along for the ride" so-to-speak. But one thing that I am not, is a liar, and I do not make up stories or elaborate on them in order to create sympathy. That really, really hurts :sad1:

Just because you have never seen or heard of a cast member shrugging off a child vomiting, doesn't mean that it has never happened. Well.... now you have heard of it happening, because it DID happen.

Sorry :sad1:

The CM that my husband spoke to wasn't a server. I don't know what he was. He was the only one around that we could find, and he appeared to be a bit higher up, as though he appeared to be overseeing things.

Don't worry about what others say. You know yourself and what happened so that's all that matters :).

I'm sorry you had a bad experience but if you return to WDW, I'd give CRT another shot. The service can either make or break a dining experience and unfortunately it seems like your server was a little lackluster plus your child being sick made the whole situation worse. I'd go again and try to make a better memory than the first :thumbsup2.

Don't let any of these responses get you down or make you sad, especially the rude and obnoxious ones. Everybody's situations are different, so you shouldn't be judged for that. All you're doing is sharing your experience.

You did absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever. First off, I completely understand what you went through with regards to your son, as I have had first hand experience with my son throwing up in a restaurant. At least you were nice enough to alert the waitstaff to inform them of the incident. Some people wouldn't think twice about it or even care about the welfare of other diners around them being effected. That was very considerate of you. Even though your waiter wouldn't technically be the one to clean it up, he should have gotten someone who could clean it and not just have shrugged you off.

Second, it is a known that at the CRT, they do provide kids under 3 with a meal whether it be some french toast sticks or noodles for breakfast/dinner. The waiter should have been a little more attentive and brought something for your son. When we were there back in December, my daughter was 2, and our waitress asked specifically what she'd like. I told her that she was 2 and she told us that it didn't matter, that she'd get her whatever she wanted. She brought her eggs and french toast sticks. So in your situation, I think you just had a not so great server. The milk thing can go either way. He probably just thought you needed some for your coffee, big deal.

Lastly, yes, I would be annoyed if I went out of my way to order a special dessert for my kid and it was forgotten. Especially if the other tables around you were getting the proper attention. It would have annoyed me and yes, I'd be pissed if my husband left an additional tip for such lousy service.

I'm so sorry you had a miserable experience there. Hopefully one day you can go back for a better time :)

Ditto all the above :goodvibes

We have eaten twice at CRT with a child under age 3 and one over age 3. Both times my child under age 3 got served food. I cannot remember if I was asked, or if they just brought it. If you wanted food for him just ask. Ask for a 2nd plate for yourself if they say no-- I believe it's "all you care to eat" there, and really how much does an under 3 year old eat.

As far as the vomiting... been there too. My son had two "incidents" on our last trip. One was at Crystal Palace, and no CM's did anything until I went up to the podium and requested help-- then we were descended upon by a cleaning crew. The other incident was at Fantasmic- I guess it overwhelmed my then 2.5 year old and he projectile vomited all over the people in front of us. I was soooo embarrassed. My mom (who was with us) ran and got a CM who was so wonderful to us and everyone around us. We were also descended upon by a cleaning crew. then the CM took all the *affected* people out to a shop and comped us all shirts and "stuff" so that we didn't have to walk around, ride home in mess covered clothing. Sooooo nice! She went way above and beyond and really did make a very unmagical moment a bit more magical.

Sorry you had a bad experience. I am a believer that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. if you are not getting helped and need help-- ask, ask, and ask again until you get some help.

I waited tables for years, and it was very rare for a person to order food for his/her one year old (in my experience). I am sorry you had a bad time. As far as the slipper, I would be mad too, not at the server, but at the lack of communication as a whole. The food situation could have been handled simply by saying, "I have heard that children under 3 are served a small plate of frech toast sticks, will you bring those please?" The server should have at least asked you, but he didn't, still it was a problem that could have been solved. As for the milk, the server may have assumed you wanted milk for your coffee. Again, he should have asked if you one year old wanted something to drink. I was a server, and the only time I did not ask if a baby/toddler/kid wanted a drink was if the child was in an infant carrier. If the server brought me a tiny pitcher of milk, I would have said, "Oh, I am sorry, but I meant a cup of milk for the little one." The server may have been rude, but he could have also been clueless to what you were asking for. Now for the throw up. The only thing the host can do is call custodial. He could have said, "I am so sorry, I will call custodial right away", or at least offer to bring you towels. I see both sides, but I understand your frustrations!

This is how I feel as well. The waiter apparently dropped the ball a bit, but if the OP had spoken up it would have helped to set things right.

I'm very sorry your child was sick, OP. That is not how anyone wants to end a meal! Hopefully the rest of your vacation was much better!

I really understand your dissapointment , I actually left Disney in March with an overwhelming dissapointment in Disney as a whole , I found the service declined , the CM's all seemed to share my dissapointment in the constant corporate changes and it is begining to show around the world .

None of those things shoud have happened and you have every right to be upset , when we pay so much money for the Disney experience , it SHOULD be magical in every way , especially customer service . I do not get why people on here get so nasty about the negative comments , I assume that when I pay that much for a vacation , that i can expect excellent customer service , we should all expect that from Disney , maybe it is because of those people who excuse poor customer service and find it acceptable that we see the decline in our favorite vacation spot .

Maybe it is because I have worked in the service industry for over 25 years. But I do tend to give wait staff/ sales clerks/ CMs some slack. They are all human, and there is not a one of us who doesn't have a bad day at work.

Even people who have had lots of training in how to deal with the public make mistakes, and sometimes think the guest wants one thing when they really want something else. The guest would be better off to say something when things are not right, instead of holding it all inside.

The OP stated that she doubled checked on the special desert at check in , then had to ruin the surprise by asking the server at the table
She clearly asked for milk
She clearly asked for something to clean up her child's vomit which should have been delt with by the restaurant staff without having to ask if it was as visible as described , there is no excuse for that in the food and service industry

Sometimes you just have to chalk it up to "things happen". Even at Disney. That being said, when a ton of things happen at once, it just makes the whole experience for the person actually going through it even worse.

OP, I am sorry your trip to CRT was so much less than magical. I hope the rest of your trip was full of magic.

She didn't have to ask at the table, she could have stepped aside with the waiter. It is a shame it didn't come out without it having to be asked for, but there was a way to handle it, besides asking in front of the kids.

She asked for milk, but didn't state what it was for. The waiter apparently made a mistake and assumed it was for her coffee or tea. Again, there is not one of us who hasn't messed up on the job at some point.

As was explained by another poster, you don't want your waiter cleaning up vomit and then serving food to another table. When it comes to bodily fluids there is a whole protocol that needs to be followed. You don't just grab towels and wipe it up. I'm sure when your child is vomiting you don't hang around to see what they will do to clean up the mess. You leave so you can take care of your child.

I posted before, but it may have been easily overlooked. Taking the server aside would have been very difficult to do. We were seated on a bench seat, and on the left side of me was another table, They were a party of 6 and there was no room for me to get through between the back of their chair and the side of our table, and my husband was on my right side. I was pretty much sandwiched in. I'm not a large person at all, but I would not have fit through. We barely saw our server at all through our meal and he was just quickly passing by (to quickly hand us the plastic bags to put our photos in, I believe)

And I did leave to take care of my child. My husband went up to the CM, and he's the one who went looking for help with what to do, while I quickly grabbed a change of clothes out of the backpack(once I was able to scoot along the bench to get off the seat) and took my son to the restroom to change him and clean him up.

I hope you don't think I was meaning you didn't take care of your child, because that is not what I meant at all. I was saying I was sure your focus was on your child, so that you didn't hang around and watch how the mess was cleaned up.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience at CRT. We had more than one meal there, and had really great experiences. I hope you give it another chance. After all, what else could go wrong, right? You are sure to have a great time if you try again!
