Cinderella's Royal Table Changes

I can't believe that they would go to a fixed menu. Part of the wonderful thing about that restaurant was the excellent food. Not only was it an amazing setting that was truely magical (especially if you sat for a late dinner and watched the fireworks from the window - wow) but it offered a great selection of delicious food. Now it sounds like the offers on an airline. "Chicken or pasta?" That's really disappointing.

We were there about a month ago and I got to tell you it didn't live up to the hype. We did the lunch and it was nice to see the characters. But you only see cinderella in the lobby for one minute. Whoopie!! And the food wasn't worth the money. We had a much better meal at the crystal palace. I am glad we did it but I don't see us doing it again with those prices for what you get. :confused3

Ooh, don't get me started fussing about Akershus!

I was thinking of this place for the our next trip. Can I ask why you don't like it?. I appreciate any feedback. Thanks. :goodvibes

She doesn't like it, because it used to be an Awesome resturant and now it's just another Princess meet-n-greet.

Yoho is exactly right.

It used to be an interesting restaurant which showcased the cuisine and culture of Norway quite well. Now it has only SOME of the unique food, it's gotten rid of the good Norwegian beer and replaced it with a drab Danish beer (not Disney's fault but still) and instead of a quiet and restful place to dine, it's a party with Princesses. From what I understand, a huge number of kids and parents of those same kids dislike the food while those who appreciated it, are staying away because of the new theme.

Anyway, rant over. But I am VERY disappointed in this change.

Planogirl, you'll be happy to know that Akershus has returned much closer to the way it was before the changeover. For the life of me, I don't know why. I assumed that it would continue to move further and further away from authentic Norwegian and towards the fare offered at every other character meal. But, instead it has very recently done the reverse. I know the manager, and she has assured me all along that it would hold true to authentic Norwegian. She's turning out to be right. Despite all I am hearing about guest complaints about the food. God bless whoever is sticking to their guns. It may be her.

They have returned the Koldbort, and nearly every single item is on it. You still order hot foods off the menu, but I like that. I liked it when they changed from a hot buffet to menu in the first place (before princesses). The food comes out hotter, fresher and overall much better.

Still, the prices are very high (princesses, of course) but, the food has returned to its former glory. A compromise I can live with. Had they changed to flank steak and peal and eat shrimp, I would have been very sad.

That is good news. Bring back Ringnes and set aside a princess-free section or meal and we may go back. As it is now, I have no desire to be bothered by actresses while I dine at what I once considered one of the few adult restaurants in WDW. I'm way too pleased with lefse and rice cream in the outdoor cafe to return to Akershus just yet.

Agree, that we would return to Akershus if it was princess free.
Nothing against princess people. But those of us sans kids don't want to pay extra for something we don't want in the first place.

Sad about the changes to the castle - especially the menu changes and no DDE. I won't be going there again after Feb 1.
