I was really looking forward to doing lunch here- I thought it would be a nice, long, A/C break from touring we could use in the middle of our day.

But my sister says that we should do breakfast instead. We would get into the park earlier, take a cool picture on main street with no people, then be closer to Fantasyland when the rides open. I am hesitant because with two young kids- I don't know how they're going to be in the morning. I would hate to have an ADR for crazy-early in the morning and have it be a struggle to get there and/or not a good day to be super early and/or have a rough night the night before.

Thoughts?

They actually open Main Street to all guests around 8:00 am on a regular park opening (9 am) day, so while you may be able to get a photo without a huge mob of people I wouldn’t book a breakfast with that hope in mind. Also, a breakfast reservation at the castle will put you at a disadvantage for rides with other guests lining up in the hub waiting for the official rope drop.

I would go with your original plan for a nice relaxed lunch for a mid-day break.

I agree with DIS-AWC. We’ve eaten both breakfast and lunch and enjoyed both. We prefer not to miss those first few park hours when it is less crowded so we’ve opted for lunch the last few times.

We've had the breakfast, lunch and dinner. We're just 2 people. I enjoyed the experience and remember the princesses, wand, picture and the room but that's it. I guess I'm having a Dory moment. The food was not really memorable for me. With kids, I would go for lunch.

I agree that you should go at lunch. It works best for you, it is a great time to have a break out of the sun, it allows you to tour the park in the morning if you get there early and you are not losing a great advantage to anything.

Dined last week for first time. Had 805a adr. Food was not that good. Sweets tray was nice. Adult meals were just ehhh. Kids meal with only one waffle!? A joke. Neat experience for location and we rode Mine Train twice before opening. Won’t be returning. One and done.

I would concur. We have a 2:30 lunch reservation on our first day. Given that we'll likely still be on a Central Time Zone state of mind, it'll be a perfect "late lunch"/midday break for us.::MickeyMo

I would keep lunch. The days of an empty Main Street are long gone, and the notion that getting a jump start on the attractions can be gone as soon as Disney changes hours. I think it makes sense to take advantage of the morning to get on attractions and then have a nice break for lunch.

Yep, there is no advantage to PPO at CRT. We had an 8am reservation there once, and there were definitely other people on main street, and by the time we were done (8:50) they had already led the rope droppers to 7DMT so we couldn't get it on it early. The food at breakfast was really bad too; lunch was much better (still not great, but the inclusion of an app and dessert made it feel like a better deal).

I would love to do lunch or dinner here, but that menu holds zero appeal! I went for breakfast last December and was pleasantly surprised. I remember the old days when you did not even get to choose your breakfast entree. Everyone got the same plate and that was that!

Ditto everyone else. I have two little ones and I love making "escape the heat" lunch reservations. Plus, then everyone can sleep as much as possible and have more fun throughout the day.

This was our experience as well. My kids left hungry. It was a great experience to do once, but I was overall very disappointed.

Thanks! Glad to hear everyone is on the same page as me. A nice long lunch break it is!

P.S. I have 2 boys, and everyone IRL has said "They're not going to care about the princesses! Save your money!" And I was like, HELLLLLOOOOOOO!?!?!? This reservation is for MAMA! Who remembers going to WDW for the first time as a second grader and being crushed that there was nothing for me to do in that giant castle other than walk thru the tunnel underneath! :)
