For those who have seen it, is it worth taking time away from the other attractions to go see it? DD12 has never been a huge princess fan but we are all Disney fans. What do you think?
It takes place right in front on the castle. Which in the summer sun can be quite uncomfortable. We passed through during the show and it is a nice show, but not worth the heat.
If you are a die-hard princess fan or a 6 year old girl it may be worth the stop. It is very....'sweet'. VERY 'sweet'. Some might say it's WAY too 'sweet'.
It's a lovely show, it's just a bit too syrupy for my taste. I needed a salty snack after watching it just to counteract the sugar.
(No offense intended to those who love the show. It's just my opinion.)
I have two daughters, 8 and 5 who love princesses. They liked the show ok, but we wouldn't make a special effort to catch it again. If you are not particularly princess fans, I would say it is not worth making a special effort to catch the show. Even if your kids are princess fans, there are much more satisfying, more close-up and personal ways to see them, like the princess character meals, etc.
Ditto on no offense to those who really love the show.
I love the Princesses, but honestly did not feel it was worth the heat to watch. There's really no shelter in front of the castle and in the August that sun can be brutal!
If you are going to catch it, try to watch one of the early shows. The show isn't very long (no longer than 20 mins I'd say) and we didn't feel like it took significant time from doing other things. Watching an early show helps a little bit with the heat, and it is slightly less crowded. My girlfriend likes princesses so she enjoyed the show, and I found it to be watchable. No regrets watching it, but it's something I could only do once.
I would vote pass ~ we saw it & DD (age 4), thought it was OK, she Really missed the previous show where Donald opens an apple & all the Villains come out! We would have stopped for that Princess & Villains show as often as possible, now Cinderellabration ~ if we never saw it, we would not have missed it, too many other Wonderful things to do & Never enough time, Enjoy!!!
I seriously hate to say this, but, it's really not worth watching.
If you have little girls, maybe they'd like it.
However, boys are likely to (In most cases) not want anything to do with it. And I, as a 26 year old married person found the scripting quite corny, and I LOVED the previous show with the other characters.
The show has no "full costumed characters" and only "real people characters" and there's no "true" photo-op at the end like the previous show.
There aren't any places to sit, dismom9761. If there were it might be worth catching just for some time off your feet. But as others have said, it's all standing...in the sun.
In defense of the littlest guests, it IS a lovely show for the youngest girls who still see it all as magical.
but it's on my, 'oh, look, this just happens to be going on while we're walking by so let's stop' list. In other words, I wouldn't make a special trip across the park to catch it...
Actually, the first thing I said after seeing it was, "Wait, this can't be a Disney show, nothing bad happens that someone needs to fix."
We did not enjoy this show. I agree with what people have said about the heat, but I wouldn't even watch it in cooler weather. We didn't care a whole lot for the Surprise Birthday Party (which Cinderellabration replaced), but this show actually made us miss that!
We watched it in the 97 degree August heat, but sure wouldn't do it again. DD14 and DS12 were not excited at all to watch it, but DH and I wanted to see it. It really was fairly boring as far as we were concerned and the heat was unbearable. I'm not sure how they were dancing. I would skip it if I were you.
If you absolutely want to see it go ahead. I wouldn't waste my time seeing it again. We were about to die from standing in the Florida July sun. My kids were about to faint......
If it is cloudy and comfortable, maybe. Otherwise, keep going. There are many more interesting things to do at MK.
I found that I could get an ok view from the little shaded huts that are off to the sides of the castle without suffering from heat prostration.
Having said that, I think it is way worse than the last show, which I thought was a total hoot. This show has no storyline and no conflict of any sort--it's more or less a beauty pagent of princesses, for good or bad.
I only saw the last show about the birthday party once, but thought it was so funny I told everyone I know about it. The whole idea of Donald continually asking if opening this evil, smoking, oozing apple was a good idea, and the children frantically gesturing "for the Love of God, NO!" was hysterical. I still don't know how the Evil Queen transformed Cinderella back into scullery maid clothing right in front of us. I also loved how Cinderella mentions at the end that friends could help you overcome anything--when her friends spent the whole time cowering under furniture, while Mulan et al defeated the bad buys! And they weren't even invited until Cinderella needed bouncers!
See, that's how I think shows should be at Disney--fun for the kids, fun for adults--good times.
