Cinderella ???

My DD15 is writing a story for a class about Cinderella and we are having a disagreement about something.

Who brought the shoe around to everyone to be tried on after the ball??

Was it the prince, the king or someone else?

Royalty wouldn't be bothered doing something so close to work! It was his groomsmen or servants don't know what they were called but it was men servants of the prince.

I always thought that it was the manservant that did all the try-the-shoe-on-the-girl business and the prince went along because he wanted to find the girl.

I never read the book, but I've seen several tv and movie versions; and I think the Disney version and the Julie Andrews version were the only ones that didn't have the prince 'out on the search'

There are so many versions of the story that I'd wager that you're both right. I'd guess that in some it's a servant, in some it's the Prince.

I don't think so, but Stephen Sondheim uses this version in Into the Woods.
