We took GDtrs to CRT breakfast least week - and the new procedure for castle dining clearly has some major glitches.

The meet and greet (and photo - more on that later) downstairs was crowded and very rushed.

Meal was ho-hum, but expected - service was rushed and our server was overburdened.

The princesses / Fairy Godmother visiting tables were great! very patient, interacted very well with the little ones. Cindy raced in through the upper part of the dining room on the way to her dressing room 2 times (apparently on break or on the way to Cinderellabration (?)) which was a bit disconcerting. The hulking security folks shadowing the royalty were a bit out of character - couldn't they costume them, or at least dress them less like killer bees?

The photo distribution was a total snafu. Apparently they simply print a batch and the CM's are supposed to wander the dining room matching pictures to faces. In our case the photo did not arrive at all during the meal (last sitting before turnover for lunch). After dealing with 3-4 clueless CM's - each of whom said the other two or three were "finding your picture" and then waiting 45 minutes AFTER the restaurant emptied (an hour after our meal), we finally got the photo. They had the gall to attempt to charge full price for it - at which point I said maybe the Mouse could put a little more happy into our celebration and comp us the pics. They did.

According to wait staff CM's, the photo process has been pretty much a mess since the new procedure started.

Overall, we much preferred the Askerhus princess breakfast - the setting and procedure were calmer, the photo procedure ran smoothly, and the whole thing was much less of a stress (also no hulking, or at least less obtrusive hulks). :sad2:

Yikes! Sounds like a real mess! We have the CRT lunch booked for June and I sure hope it gets better before then.

I'm surprised they wanted to charge for for the pics at all - aren't they included in the price? I thought when I booked it the CM said it was a package. :confused3

Have never done Cindy's Meals at Castle....wanted to try it with our 2 DD's.
I don't know which is the way to go, Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner and I hope it goes alot smoother then your unpleasant time.....I'd be a tad upset too if I were you. AND from what I am reading, I thought the photos were included too!

Apparently the pics are included for lunch or dinner - but for some reason not breakfast (maybe they felt they couldn't afford to hike the bkfst price as much to still make the same amount of $$?).

I wouldn't avoid the CRT, I guess, this was our 1st time, but I really did like the Askerhus experience a whole lot better - but then the kids were really thrilled at 1) getting inside the Castle and 2) getting to "eat with Cinderella - even though the closest they got to eating with miss glass slipper was when she ran through on the way to smoke break (OK, that was unkind, I'm sure she doesn't inhale...).

Are you saying you have to pay extra for the pictures on top of the $32/$22 for breakfast?

I just booked dinner at the Castle for August and I was told the same thing, that the pics start at $29.95 plus tax. I told the dining rep that the website says the pics are free. She told me the only thing free is that at dinner you get a lithograph but it is not matted or framed. So I would also like to hear from anyone about these pics but it does sound from the other poster that they aren't free. I would hope the glitches are resolved by the time we go in August. I thought for the price that dinner was the better deal.

We were just there on 2/4 for dinner at CRT. The pictures were included -- as well as the lithograph -- in the price of the meal.

Thanks for letting me know. Guess someone should tell the dining reps that take these reservations exactly what is up. At least now I don't feel so bad with the price of the meal.

I was told that the pictures are included for the breakfast too...hence the price of $32 for adults and $22 for kids. They better be included for that price...guess I am going to have to call and check. I was also told that the girls get a wand and the boys get a sword included in the price of the meal!

Yes, I heard the same thing about the sword and the wand and that is given at the lunch. The lithograph is given at dinner. I agree, for $39 for dinner the pics and a lithograph should be included. It's bad enough we have to pay in advance. Think of all the interest they are making on our money!!!!!!

GRRR...all of the different "rumors" about this is very frustrating! Especially since we are forking out so much money!

That is why I spoke to the dining rep about what I had heard and she confused me even more when she told me the pics weren't free and now a poster says they are. Those people that take the ressies should really get their story straight. That is why I have found that if I need to know something the only people I can rely on are these boards!!!!!

Thanks again everyone!!!!

Hi,

I was also told as well the pictures were free for breakfast as well, with the option to purchase more.

Is there a way to get them sent to your hotel? I don't want to carry them around all day if I don't have to? :tink:

Just got off the phone with Disney Dining Reservations (called twice!):
Because of the change on Febuary 1st, some people were just charged for their meal and not their pictures when reservations were made. So that is why some people may be "charged" for photos upon arrival. (But I personally like the comp idea better!)

OK...Here's the scoop:

Cinderella's Royal Table for Breakfast:
Cinderella attends breakfast
Two Table Service if on Dining Plan or 10+ $31.99 and 3-9 $21.99 plus tax and tip for pre-plated breakfast paid at time of reservation.
24 hour cancel policy or $10 per person charged to CC on file with Disney.
Photo package includes four 4x6's and one 6x8 photo of guests with character and one 6x8 photo of the castle.

Cinderella's Royal Table for Lunch:
Cinderella attends lunch and same terms as above, but 10+ $33.99 and 3-9 $22.99 for pre-plated lunch. Same photo package as above, no swords or wands given.

Cinderella's Royal Table for Dinner:
Cinderella does not appear for dinner (she dines at the GF per DDR.)
More than likely the Fairy Godmother attends, but techincally this is NOT considered a character dinner.
2 Table Service if on Dining Plan or 10+ $39.99 and 3-9 $24.99 plus tax and tip for pre-plated dinner.
Gift for dining here at dinner is a lithograph, plus same photo package as above.

I hope this helps some!

Good info on the pics. I'm still waiting for someone to tell what the menu was for dinner -- was it any good? I'll be there next Tuesday. This new dinner and pics thing just started and info is sketchy! :confused3

Doting Gram - did you like the dinner? What was the menu like? Thanks.

I'm really confused by this all. Basically, what are the prices for the meals? (b/l/d) And, is the DDE accepted? Or just straight price?
I'm guessing from what I'm reading that by the time we take our gd in 2 years the cost will be a lung or a pound of flesh. For a pastry and a chance to wave at the character from 100 feet.

CRAZY

I am so glad we have "been there done that" with only one credit (actually free dining plan!!!!) in September...

I would not choose to go again...did not like the food or service...I prefer the food at Flame Tree BBQ over CRT!!! :confused3 lol

HAVING SAID THAT...

it is a once in a lifetime opportunity for some and I am glad we go the "magic" on our first ever WDW vacation!! I would not change it for the world. It was very exciting leading up to the meal...my girls dressed up and even bought shoes at Tinks Treasures...

all girls must go once...but my daughters have no interest in doing it again...they say they'd rather ride HM more times :woohoo:

I most certainly would not do it for 2 credits since I have already done it...as far as the pics...big woop...we have about 100 of our own from CRT and you can get good priced frames all over WDW...we got one that lights up and says WDW 2005 for 10 bucks...

I remember I spilled my diet coke and our waitress looked at me like she wanted to kill me...I felt SOOOO bad!!! Then we got only ONE appetizer plate for all 5 of us...one adult plate and one kids plate...not nearly enough for the 5 of us

if you all run into that at lunch be sure to ask for more if you want it!!

I liked the cobbler and the major domos pie was alright...

seriously...even Chef Mickey's was more fun than this

but like I said...go at least once!! :wizard:

DDE is accepted for CRT. Since this is a pre-paid meal, be sure to tell them at time you make your reservation. They took off the 20% when charged to my card.
Check a yellowfish post below for prices as of 2/1

Apologies for dragging this on, but even when reading everyones messages here, I am still confused as to: Is the picture package included in the price of the CRT Breakfast (31.99) or a separate charge (29.99)? I am hearing it two ways, depending on how I read it.

Regards

That is the only way for Cinderella to get to her 'break location'. She has to go through the dinning room but is not allowed to greet the Guests up there. Please everyone know that what goes on is very much out of control of the characters. They are told what to do by someone who is told what to do by someone etc. They work very hard in the castle and are working through the changes as well. Although I am sure you are joking, please have a bit of consideration for others.
