her up close and personal...
I am making a Cinderella dress for my DGD age 5 and from pictures, to me it looks like the sleeves and cut-away over-skirt are sorta a light silver gray (rest of the dress is light blue). Is this true? I've ordered light blue satin for the dress but actually have some nice lightweight gray satin already on hand that I thought might be nice for the sleeves, etc.
I REALLY wanna get this right, the lil girly-girl has her heart set on breakfast with the Head Princess on our trip next spring.

In the movie and when she's drawn now-a-days, it seems they actually go for a lighter shade of blue:

But in the Dream-Along with Mickey show now, they use silver:

The park versions have had a bunch of subtle variations on the design and color. One thing I've noticed though, is that they all like to add a huge bow in the back:

In the DDCT Parade, The sleeves and over skirt are white:

While it seems before, walk-around versions and in Cinderella Surprise Celebration, those pieces are the same color as the rest of the dress or slightly darker as in this picture:

So I guess it depends on what you want to mimic.
Personally, I like the Dream-Along with Mickey version, best since it's closer to the movie and I like the sequin "sparkle" accents around the gown.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

So many Great Pics!!! I woulda TOTALLY missed it on the bow -- You are my hero!!!! THANK YOU AGAIN!

No problem. Cinderella is my favorite Disney Princess (and Prince Charming my favorite Prince) so I was glad to help. :)

I think I like the blue and silver version too. I'm going to use mirror organza over the sleeves and am planning some intense "Bedazzler" action on the over-skirt. Poor Lil' Zoe suffers mightily from "middle-kid-itis" ;) and I want to make this dress REALLY special.

You're going to make that?! I am totally impressed!:thumbsup2 Please post some pictures after you finish it.

Hmmm ... just wondering out loud if you're gonna need lots of pirin tablets after you do all that work!?:lmao:

Yes -- I suspect there will be LOTs of pirins involved in this project.:lmao:

A butt bow and a dog collar? Cinderella is a tad on the kinky side!

Seriously, I think you are a great lady for making your princess ainto a real one. I love to sew, maybe it was good I had a son, or I would have been doing the whole princess costume thing too. DS was not into any of the dressing up for anything.

I want pics from when the fabric comes out of the bag, all the way till the dress is on your DD! I cant even imagine such a project! (I dont even own a needle, if it pops a button it goes to the good will!)

I'm impressed!

Good Luck!

If people are interested, I will SO post pictures. :goodvibes Sewing is fun and can be very relaxing (except for zipper plackets shudder)-- I did a lot of it years ago and just picked it back up again recently while I was between jobs (Made all new cushions for my sofa ) last year.

:rotfl2: I sorta think it might be a velvet ribbon -- but you know, a dog collar -- with maybe some studs :scratchin --would certainly take the ensemble up a couple notches on the edginess scale.

Without Joevn's pics, I woulda totally missed the whole butt-bow thing. Simplicity 5832 doesn't show it...but I think I can improvise (famous last words):rotfl:

Great pictures of Cinderella!!! Seems like Cinderella is quite the Diva!! Never wears the same thing twice. :lmao: Whichever colors you use, I'm sure it will come out fabulous, because of the amount of care and love you are putting into it.

Cheers.

Thank you, RosieP!!!:goodvibes AWESOME close-up. That figured satin is sooooo pretty but sadly pretty dang pricey too! I dinked around on Ebay -- trying to buy some a coupla weeks ago and ended up with my future dining room chair seats (if I ever decide to go Louis XIV -- that is! :lmao: ! LOL!) I was trying for garment weight but ended up with upholstery satin brocade -- WAY too heavy for a teensy lil girl's princess dress.
Thanks again to everybody!

Gee, am I the only one that imediately thought of GOne with the Wind, both the movie and the Carol Burnett remake?

I think your costume will be beautiful!
