I was really torn on the processing of this one. However, I actually do think it works well in black and white. What do you think?

Clicking the picture takes you to its Flickr page (the color version is posted there).

I get a totally different feel from this pic than ANY other I have seen...remarkable!!!

Wow this picture is absolutely breath taking. :worship::worship: Would you mind if I used it for my desktop background at work?

That is a truly gorgeous picture; what a fantastic angle!! The framing/composition is just lovely.

However, I guess I'm going to go against the flow by stating I like the color one on your FLickr page just a little better.

For me, I find the contrast between the white lights and blue casle walls more appealing than white on grey. The blue, to me, makes the castle "happier" whereas grey looks more "imposing"....

I agree, the B&W looks more like a grand church and the color shot feels more like Cinderella castle. I can't pick a favorite though, both look perfect :cloud9:

WOW!!! That is absolutely beautiful!!! I've never seen these lights in person, but will be there next month and am SOOOO looking forward to it!!!

I think it's stunning!! :worship: Printworthy in my book!! Nice job

Certainly! If you need it resized, send me a PM.

I wonder if you're really going against the flow. I think some people are probably reluctant to offer critique/criticism (or in this case disagree with my choice to post the B&W over the color version). I love critique, though. No one ever improved their skills thanks to people patting them on the head.

Interesting comparison. Thanks!

You'll love them. Seriously amazing. I only wish WDW would extend the lights a la Paris.

Beautiful! I have to agree with the other posters however I really love the color one on your flickr!! Seeing the Christmas lights make me even more excited about our first trip in 2 weeks!!!

Agree..I too like honest critique...however you should know you WILL get the honest here..Either way they are GRAET pictures. I just REALY like the B&W has a certain mystery too it. I just go into lala when I look at it...makes me have that happy feeling inside!:goodvibes

PS - I think it would make a great entry in the current photo contest for castles....

I'm really not a big fan of B/W at Disney, because it is SUCH a colorful place.... but this was a definite WOW. Great work as always!

I think your black-and-white image is stunning! :thumbsup2

Your blacks are very black (not dark gray). You turned a modern Disney-lights subject into a classic photo in B&W, so the contrast between modern & classic really stands out.

In travel photography, they always say to look for a unique perspective when photographing popular landmarks. We've all seen photos of the Eiffel Tower, for example, so the challenge is to find a different photo or a different perspective of the Eiffel Tower.

Everyone's taken a photo of Cinderella's Castle, so it's very hard to find a unique way to show the Castle. Although the colored lights are pretty, removing the colors gives the photo a very unique perspective of the Castle.

Great job! :thumbsup2

Glad to help! :thumbsup2

Just wondering, would you mind putting the full-sized color one on your Flickr pages? I'd LOVE to use it as my Windows background!

We're heading to WDW in less than two weeks :banana::banana: and your photo is really getting me *stoked* to go!

I LOVE Disney at Christmas!! :goodvibes:goodvibes

I am such a sucker for moody black and white photography. I love the feeling of this and I would have never thought to process a picture of the castle lights in B&W - great job !

I think the b&w version is the stronger, more interesting photograph. I feel that the color shot is too gaudy, and that your eye just overloads on the color. The b&w version gives your eye a chance to read the structure, texture, and 'weight' of the castle, and gives your brain an opportunity to puzzle over what it is, exactly, that you're looking at. You SEE so much more in the b&w version.
