Cinderella Castle Announcement

release the scaffolding !

Surely tis going to make 6 months + to paint this as will need to be taken back to a base coat due to the pink colour.

I’m happy 😊 as long as they don’t make it into a cake again I’m good !! I really disliked it with a passion ymmv

Amazing! Both people that liked the Cakestle are here on the DIS.

There's at least three of us.

I also liked the castle cake. Though that year, I only saw it for a week and it felt enchanted.

The only thing negative about the paint job is the scaffolding. Can’t remember if there’s also a crane or if that was just for adding the lights for the holiday ice castle?

Okay great. Now bring back Dream Lights.
This! As long as they're going to have scaffolding up to paint the castle, they might as well time it so that they can also put up the Dream Lights (at least for next year if not this holiday season).

Unpopular Opinion ...

I like the Cake Castle, thought it was fun. I do understand that if it was your first and maybe only trip you would want to see the real castle. But as a regular I enjoyed it. We have a family picture of us in front of it that is framed and displayed. I actually own a piece of the cake ... much of it was "balloon" style and afterwards it was cut up.

I think the holiday lights were beautiful, but I hope they don't come back. For all the folks who visit months before and months after they see the crane, scaffold, wires and lights hanging (I've even seen workers) ... making the castle once again a disappointment for the non regulars. I mean the crane had it's own twitter account it is there so long. I think their focus on always improving the projections is the least intrusive option for holidays.

I’m okay with this but really like the current colour scheme better.

Also thankful we just completed our trip and have pictures without the crane and scaffolding that always accompanies a castle paint re-do.

Never that happy with the current colors.

The cake castle lost its charm by 6 months, but it lasted for 15 months.

I had to look at it on a regular basis so I was more than ready to see it go.

The word scaffolding has been used a few times, but just noting the 2020 repaint (which had started right before Covid) had minimal large areas of actual scaffolding/scrims and was mostly done with numerous high reach cherry pickers placed in the (drained) moat. The large boom crane that occasionally gets used/gets put behind construction walls towards the back of the castle was used for the very tallest points. At the time they did opt to do work during daytime hours vs just overnight - we have several Main Street photos with an octopus-like web of cherry picker cranes at work in the background. It would be nice if they'd limit painting to non-park hours and keep the cherry pickers retracted/out of most sightlines during the day, but that's not really been the WDW management trend these days so I suspect whenever this does start we see a period of the cherry picker brigade again.

With all the parties going on right now, they even less likely to do it at night.
