To respond to both of you.
I went a little off topic with regards to how I disagree with Unions. I think my argument was valid and represents my opinion to which I'm entitled to as you are yours.
Let's talk about the situation at hand.
Disney doesn't exploit their work force. They have specific jobs that pay a specific amount. If they cannot find labor at those rates then they increase said rates until they can fill positions. This determines what they pay their staff. Yes, they're a big bad corporation that has a lot of little people that it stands on to make a profit. It's the nature of the beast.
What we have here is a group of unskilled labor that wishes to have better compensation. They're welcome to seek that through diplomatic avenues. There seems to be a lot of bickering taking place between Disney and the Union bosses all while the workers are forced to protest and put their necks on the line. The Union is seemingly working against these people they're supposed to be supporting.
Perhaps I could support the concept of unionizing if the decisions and actions of the Union were those of the members themselves and less from those who take their dues to fill their pockets. It's well known that Union leaders are as crooked as those they supposedly work against.
I don't like Unions plain and simple and I believe that people should pay for their health benefits especially if they company they work for is willing to cover 75% of those costs. It's more than fair. Some people don't know how to stay out of financial trouble and don't want to put in the work required to get a good job that fits their financial needs. Bad decisions have put them in the position they are in and it's very unfortunate. I'm willing support anybody wanting to make their situation better via education and fiscal responsibility.
They have a choice.
