Is it worth the high cost of the reservation and paying out of pocket?

Traveling with three daughters, 5, 7, and 9.

I think it's worth doing at least once if you can afford it. Dining inside the castle is just magical IMO and the character interaction is good. We really enjoyed our meal the first time we dined here, but the second time my entree was overcooked which is a bummer for the price. I still really enjoyed the app and dessert though.

DD was 5 when we took her to CRT. We had a PPO ADR on our very first morning, and the whole trip was a surprise to her. The wow factor was priceless. The princess interactions were fantastic, and all the CMs were really wonderful. The food was underwhelming for the price, but we weren't there for the food. It was worth it for that one wow.

We're planning our next trip now, and I recently asked DD, now 7, if there was anywhere she would eat again at Disney - she doesn't know we're going again. She said in the castle, but I think because of the short time we'll be there we will do BOG breakfast again because we all loved it, and do Akershus again, this time for breakfast instead of lunch like we had last time. DH and I preferred the food there, and I prefer the cost. The princesses were even better at Akershus, and we like the Scandinavian food offerings.

It depends on what you are looking for. It is neat to eat in the castle. When we have been the food has been pretty good. It really comes down to cost. If it is going to break you bank then no, probably not worth it. If your kids love princesses and you can swing it, it is worth doing once.

I agree - very magical, and only way you can go inside the castle. Great for getting photos and autographs for several princesses w/o waiting on line. We have done brft as it is cheapest, and we liked the food. It is also nice if you can get it as a PPO around 8am to get some nice castle pics on Main St., and go right out to start Fantasyland when you are done. If not possible or EMH/EMM day, a late brft is good for getting in park time while it's less crowded, and have more of a "brunch". We usually pay out of pocket rather than use up two credits on it.

My daughter and I ate there in October and my husband/sons just ate QS and rode extra rides. It was very expensive, of course, but I think worth it. My daughter (age 4) dressed up in her Cinderella dress and she felt very special. The food was better than I expected (feared?) although she didn't eat much and kept dropping her chicken nuggets on the floor.

The cutest thing was that I had somehow neglected to describe it as a character meal to her, so every time a princess came out she was completely shocked and thrilled. It was really priceless.

We found it really magical as well. We went for lunch the year we paid OOP. At that time it was a little less expensive (maybe lunch still is, I don't know since we did DDP this year). Our food was good but we actually liked lunch better. The portion size for dinner was smaller than expected. It was perfect for lunch.

Yup. Especially since you have three daughters. The food is nothing to write home about (not sayin it's bad) but eating in the Castle is an amazing experience. It's definitely not an every trip meal, but once in a rare while it's nice.

If you can afford it~ do it!!!!! My daughter and nieces all LOVE IT~ that is literally the first question they ask when we plan a trip to Disney~ if we’re going to get to eat in the castle. My daughter, now 17, thinks it’s a must. We are planning a graduation trip this June for her high school graduation- and she said she’d use her own money to pay to eat in the castle if she had to - it means that much to her (she isn’t going to have to use her own money - lol)
Some of our favorite Disney memories are from eating in the castle. When DD was two~ she literally ran to every princess as they were coming to our table. She practically knocked Cinderella down and they sat on the floor and rubbed noses for quite a while. When DD was 8, we had had a rough year and had cancelled a previously planned trip~ so that trip was really special~ DD literally teared up when the princesses were announced in the dining hall. Aurora sang with her when she was around 5ish. I could go on and on. For our family, it is so worth it.
Food- we’ve always had really good experiences. My mother has some dietary issues- we said this when we made reservations and the chef himself came out and asked what she could eat and he made something completely off the menu for her. My niece has always asked for something a little different from the menu and they’ve always been happy to comply. We weren’t fond of the dessert choices last time so the waitress happily offered sundaes instead. We’ve always found that if something wasn’t quite right or we wanted something a little different~ they have always been more than happy to fix it or meet any request (small requests now~ not major).
If you have 3 daughters~ I more than recommend this meal. Eating in the castle is just magical itself, add the princesses and it is amazing. DD was convinced until probably age 7-8 that Cinderella lived upstairs above the dining hall. If you can~ do it once~ you won’t regret it!

Do it.
We did it on our first trip for my niece. It was the one thing she really wanted to do. we used our dining credits for it since we were on the dining plan. I think it was two credits each. Of course I would have paid OOP since it was something she really wanted to do, but we opted to have pizza one night OOP to offset the use of the extra credit. I really enjoyed it. The food was good from what I can remember but that was almost 7 or 8 years ago. The atmosphere alone was worth it. Just to see the sparkle in my niece's eyes was enough to confirm it was worth it.

When we went back a couple of years later she had outgrown the princess stage so I was really glad we got to experience it on our first trip.

We're taking our DD (17) to Disney for her Graduation too! I've been hemming and hawing whether she'd like it and it would be worth the $$ but you've sold me on it! Thank you! (we're almost at our 180 days so crossing all the things we can get it)

I agree with everyone else that it's worth it at least once. It's magical eating in the castle and while it's not something we would do every trip, I do think it's worth the cost at least one time for the experience :).

Breakfast, lunch or dinner? We are in our 50's & do not have kids going with us. I have been to WDW many times, he has NEVER been.

Paying OOP, as an adult I would say no it isn't worth it. The food and service are OK, but not would you would expect for the price. As an adult you wander out trying to figure out if you have been taken. However, with 3 daughters 5,7, and 9 it is definitely worth it. They will always remember the time you took them to the castle. You don't get many chances to 'buy' a memory, but this is one...and they include a meal as well.

3 daughters that age I would definately do it. Besides have a magical time during the experience The photos will be precious for years to come.

I like CRT, and feel that if you can afford it, the experience is well worth the cost. I prefer lunch or dinner.
