Cincinnati or Louisville?

I've actually always heard Lou-a-ville as far as the pronunciation of Louisville. Thanks again for everyone's advice...I should have put up a poll LOL

Obviously, King Louis (silent "s", BTW). But, since I don't have French accent, I would not be pronouncing it as his name was pronounced anyway.

But, I do have a slight southern accent--so Lou-a-vul is is. I also usually drop the "g" in a word ending in "ing" and say "ya'll". I don't say "ain't" though, so I'm not all bad.

How do you pronounce Versailles, Ky?

I pronounce it "Luhl-a-ville" and we're from Hardin county.

I would go to Louisville because it does have a small town feel while still offering a lot and their acting programs are superb.

Cincinnati native, here!

Generally Clifton is a pretty safe area to live, as that is where the University of Cincinnati is located.

As a UC grad, I'd say that you couldn't pay me to live in Clifton. I never felt safe there.

I definitely think the east side of Cincinnati is much nicer than the west side, in my opinion.

Now that I completely agree with you, my Loveland pal! I'm a Glen Este grad and I lived many years in Anderson Township.

That's totally irrelevant.

There's a darling town in Cincinnati called Mariemont. It is named after a Marie Somebody. But it is pronounced Mary-mont.

Pierre, South Dakota is named after Pierre Somebody but it is pronounced Peer.

Ya gotta go with what the natives call a place.

And let me assure all of you non-Cincinnati natives... we never, ever pronounce our city's name as Cincinnatuh. ~shudders~
