Cincinnati Flower Show

Opens tomorrow, and continues through Sunday. I'm going with a friend tomorrow. Unlike the Philadelphia Flower Show, this one is held outdoors and in huge tents. Are there any other Buds planning to go?

Oh Snowwark, I do talk a lot, and I am lucky! Speaking of scents, our lilacs are blooming, and that's a fragrance that sends me to my childhood and a neighbors bush.

Lilacs, sigh, mine are a long way yet from blooming. Aren't they wonderful! Because I can't wait for them to bloom, I've been kind of cheating, and using a lilac scented soap lately..lol.

Enjoy their heady frangrance, and the flower show!

How was the flower show, Bobbi? Any interesting new trends?

Hi! I'm not ignoring you, Kim, I was disappointed in the show and don't have much to say. It was a huge let-down.

I'm sorry it was a disappointment to you, Bobbi. Lots of other people might have felt the same way, and if so, hopefully the organizers will come up with something much better next year!

The terrible rain that we had the day we went didn't help. However, there always is a silver lining, I was just too glum to appreciate it. Hamilton County is around Cincinnati, and there will be a Children's Garden there that will open this summer. There was an exhibit with some tantilizing tidbits. A naturalist had, on her arm, a small owl, because the theme of the Children's Garden is Wizards! They had a topiary of a dragon that was wonderful. That will be on my "must see before we retire and leave the area" list.

In case you're wondering, retirement could be as close as February '07, and we have a growing list of things we want to see before we leave the mid-west.

Hopefully you got to go to Krohn Conservatory when you were here..Neat place, and Eden Park is right by it...Awesome views up there..

That's right, shep, that part of Ohio is so unlike much of Ohio which is flat farmland. The views of the river valley and Cincinnati are spectacular!

Didn't stop there last week, though, the Flower show is in Coney Island now, no longer in Ault Park. I think they did a better job when it was at Ault, but parking and congestion forced them to change.

You're leaving Ohio, Bobbi? Where are you planning on moving to?

In the meantime, I see that you're temporarily re-locating to WDW, very soon!!

We do hope to go to Florida, probably Orlando. DH really does want to work at Disney, he would love to be a RR conductor. I've checked out community colleges, and there are ads for p/t math instructors right now around there, we'll see about in '07.

We share a home in Cape May NJ with my sister, and we'll probably keep that as a place for me to escape to from the Florida summers.

Regarding the BCV and our upcoming trip to WDW, we like to go to the Flower Show, and our June 1st anniversary is the "reason" in case we need an excuse to give our family/friends who always seem surprised that we're going AGAIN! The topiaries that are displayed there are very special, and often there are sunflowers by the Am. Pavillion, and I love sunflower fields. Do they have them by you?

I've heard from another Bud (Gina2000), that Cape May is very nice!

Yes, I believe we do have commercial sunflower farms, but they're a little southwest of where I am. I'd love to see one in full bloom though, it would be gorgeous!
