We just found out that our youngest so is "VERY" allergic to Cinammon (waiting to have allergy test to confirm). I have food allergies myself, (bell peppers and squid/calamari) but the reaction isn't that bad and I know how to deal with them. We'll be staying offsite and had planned on eating offsite, but now I can't risk it. I want to do all lunches and dinners at Disney, because I know you can tell them about allergies ahead of time and they will work with you. What are some of the more affordable TS restaurants that's good for someone with a cinnamon allergy? How do go about this with QS? If I'm not mistaken, you don't contact them ahead of your trip like you can TS.

For TS you'll want to have the allergy noted on the ADR. Remind them when you check-in. A chef will come to your table to discuss appropriate options.

At QS you want to ask for the allergy binder before placing your order. You can then review what's available and what you consider to be safe based on the ingredients list.

If you contact Special Diets they may be able to send you a list of allergy-free items avaialble throughout WDW. I'm not sure if they have a list for cinnamon, though, but it's worth asking.

Enjoy your vacation!

My DD has multiple food allergies, and it seems like things were a little different( better) this year than in the past at the CS locations. She told the CM at the register that she had food allergies and someone called a manager. The manager discussed her meal options and looked through the ingredient binder with her. It was very reassuring to be able to check the ingredients as they are not standard throughout the parks. The guests behind us may not have been too thrilled, but my DD has never felt more comfortable.

Why didn't the manager take the group to the side? :confused3

OP - can your child smell cinnamon and be OK? Just pointing this out, because there are some attractions with scents, and include cinnamon.

I have a cinnamon allergy among many others. I really can't eat at QS b/c of my multiple allergies except Sunshine Seasons in Epcot which is fantastic. I always speak someone and they have cooked fresh veggies for me in the past b/c nothing else worked except the children's chicken.

As mentioned before, ask to look at the allergy binder so you can see the ingredients for yourself.

As far as Table Service, I have had great experiences everywhere I have eaten. I usually look at menus ahead of time. If you check this link out, you can find updated menus with the prices, which would be helpful for being budget conscious.

Chefs are really great with allergies at WDW, just make sure you ask to talk to them when you arrive.

As others said, I would be sure to note it on your ADR. We are PA and because it's one of the top 8, they are prepared and it's not too big a deal. Your child's may take a bit more preparation. Tell the server as soon as you sit down at TS. They will get the chief before they bring any food to you. They are knowlegable and helpful. Depending on what you mean by "VERY Allergic", you may need to look at ways to reduce an airborne reactions. Fall and Winter seems to be peak Cinnamon sent time in gift shops and some places bake a lot of items with it. You will for sure want to avoid the Christmas gingerbread house displays if you go during that time frame. When the allergy test is done, talk to the doctor. Ask ton of questions. Ask how many epi pens to carry, ask about benedryl and whether or not to medicate for exposure.
WDW is wonderful with allergies and she will be in good hands.

Our go-to for a less expensive TS is the Plaza. Kona Cafe is also reasonable. I would check the lesser-known resort TSes - Capt Grille, GF Cafe, Wave. Beaches and Cream is reasonable. That only addresses the budget part, as I have no experience w cinnamon allergy. I have eaten safely at all of the named restaurants, except Wave (never eaten there.)

Unsolicited, but in case you don't already know, some flavors of Benadryl have cinnamon in them. I don't know the specifics but I would suggest finding a "safe" one to carry in case of reaction... You don't want the treatment to make it worse!

We tend to be inexpensive diners at liberty tree tavern (lunch) and rose and crown. I would look over menus to see what quick service you want to try, but most of the time when we try to eat quick service we get turned away and it means spending an hour running around the parks before ending up at table service. Other people say this wont happen, but we are currently ending a two week trip and its the second time that we have had people sending us away. This year columbia harbor house said no, which was sad because last year they were the only place in the magic kingdom who would feed my son. :( They said no after pinnochio village specifically turned us away saying to go there.

What do you mean by 'turned you away' - they refused to sell you any food? Or were you not able to find anything on the menu that was free of your son's allergens, and they didn't have the ingredients on hand to offer your son something safe?

They do not have ingredients to make anything top 8 free. colombia harbor house did, but refused because "shellfish might be in the air" I told him that was not a concern and he (manager) said he didnt feel comfortable and pointed me to their note on the allergy menu that said they suggest we go elsewhere stating that he would not be comfortable and we should try any other QS in the park... Pinocchio village haus sent me to CHH just before that. Ifind it particularly frustrating because special diets specifically told me they all had ingredients but nowhere seems to actually have them.

Thank you so much for this. They gave me a presciption for the capsules at the hospital. I did help some, but he kept breaking out. His doctor told me to stop it and gave him CLaritin to take every day. He stoped breaking out. They just said that some times the allergen can remain in your sytem for a few days. I never would have thought it could be the Benadryl. He's with smelling it, just can't eat it or touch it.

Mistysue sorry to here about what happend to you and your family. I just hope we don't get turned away from a restaurant because there might be cinnamon, or even bell peppers (this is airborn for me, but it just regular hay fever symptoms).

We must have had a different manager. I'm anaphylactic to shellfish and we ate at CHH in June with no problem. My parents wanted to eat there and I knew they had the safe chicken tenders and fries.

It's very interesting how different experices can be. We were there for a week in June and we were never turned away once.

We do have an issue with Garden Grill but that chef was horrendous. They had the ingredients to make safe food for me but the chef was just not careful about it.

One of the worse experiences we have had has been at Colombia House-sadly on more than one occasion. I just won't go in there anymore. The manager was the same on all the visits.

We have been "turned away". After having ADR's for several months we got a voice mail from the chef on the day of the ressie telling us not to come since he could not guarantee safe food. And it was a holiday weekend.

We also had a bad chef at Garden Grill last Thanksgiving. Speaking to the manager did not help. The server was ashamed to serve the food and apologized over and over.

From a recent experience-the chef makes all the difference. At AOA we ordered the chicken safe tenders for lunch-they were good. Ordered the same for dinner (same CS) and they were awful! Cold and greasy and the chef was "difficult" to work with.
