Cigarettes,Ice & Stroller News

Very well said. For those applauding, wait until Disney takes away something that you do....

I'm not a smoker, but I do feel bad for the smokers.

While not traditional smokers, my husband used to love a cigar on the balcony in the evening. Disney banned this as well. We’re ok with it.

Got no problems with any of this. Folks can go a day without smoking. I love cigars. But I don’t have to have one everyday. Certainly not in the parks. Hope Disney enforces all of this. Especially the stroller fiasco.
As for loose ice. I never knew anyone actually brought ice into the parks? No need for that. Freezer packs has been around for what 40 years?

Happy with no smoking ban, quit myself 6 years ago, I still have empathy for smokers, yada-yada

But your comparison to cigars is ridiculous and your flippant comment about people going without smoking for a day shows ignorance on the subject of addictions.

My 80 year old father has been smoking cigars for as long as I can remember and would agree it is nothing like a cigarette addiction.

Carry on!

Couldn't you start with an ice pack, then replace it with ice once inside a park?

In theory yes, but the resort mini fridges don't have a freezer so unless they have a place that will freeze them for us that isn't an option either. And I'd need to figure getting them back on the plane as they can't be in carry on unless frozen solid as well. I can't see myself spending $60 to check a bag just for ice packs so we'd likely end up needing to dispose of them before flying home which seems so wasteful.

We just returned from a Spring Break trip to WDW and it was not unusual for my DD and I to smell cigarette smoke wafting from the stalls of the ladies restrooms. I wonder if this new smoking ban will increase that issue?

Unless Disney is fully committed to enforcing No Smoking then this is a total waste. Then need to scan magic bands and issue a warning. Caught again and you are escorted out of the park.
I smoke. There should not be a warning. Escort smokers out of the park at the first offense.
LOL.. maybe they'll give them some photos of types of strollers that are too big
Though really, I can't think of any stroller that would be too big if the double strollers aren't. What is bigger than those? Do they make 3 across?
Disney is replacing its side th side doubles with front/back ones.
My boyfriend is a smoker and he does not go long periods of time without smoking. He smokes before he goes in to work at 7, he "steps out" for a cigarette around 830, takes his regular break around 1015 for a cigarette, he chain smokes on his hour lunch 12-1, "steps out" again around 2, takes his second regular break around 315, and then smokes a few on the way home at 4.
Most jobs don't allow that flexibility - and any cigarette smoked before or after work can't reasonably be included.

Wow, what a bummer! I wonder if it was maybe a younger college crowd in for spring break and they didn't feel like following the rules. I am at the parks 3 or 4 times a month and have never experienced that.

Two and a half bits of unsolicited advice.

1. Babywearing is awesome.
1.a. You don’t have to worry about the stroller size unless you have triplets OR have twins and purposely buy the biggest double you can find.
2. I wish you luck in your endeavors, but must say that having a baby in the first year of marriage can be tremendously difficult even for the best relationships. There’s a reason that both first year of marriage ANd having a baby are each on the list of massive life stresses. Doing both is mind blowing. Take it from me...
Thank you! If I got pregnant right now I wouldn't have the baby until January so we'd be clear of the first year of marriage :) My husband has two kids so we already have kids in our lives, just not babies. I figure he'll be the baby expert since he's done it twice already so it won't be as crazy as us both being new parents. For traveling with the baby I do want to get I think they're called bjorn to carry the baby around, but for Disney I feel like a stroller might be easier with all the walking, but maybe not.

It's interesting to see how folks are thrilled by such bans, except for the ones that affect them personally.

Ice is the only one ppl aren’t thrilled about. My ice to keep baby formula cold doesn’t affect anyone else...giant strollers/wagons & 2nd hand smoke does. I’d be glad to use ice packs b/c they’re much more efficient & less messy. That’s all we use at home, but they took away the freezer in the rooms.

I just read that you can put the ice into a resealable bag. The issue is it’s hard for security to see what’s under loose ice.

Bull. Can to. I did. Cold turkey. Cigarettes ran out same day as my lighter ran out. I took it as a sign to quit. So I did. I'd smoked for 20 years too. Haven't picked one up since that day

Congrats on quitting! My in-laws quit cold turkey as well, back in the 70s. My FIL says it was the hardest thing he ever did.

Its easy to stop smoking on a balcony. All you have to do is leave your room and walk maybe 30 yards and find a smoking area. In the theme parks you would need to walk a mile +, each way.

Loose ice is an interesting change! But it must be a trend they've noticed, that it makes it really difficult at security or something.

depend on how hot it is when you go. last trip we had a 4 month old in the group, daughter and baby both were too hot with the carrier. ended up only using the stroller
