How are the cicadas in your neck of the woods? We have not seen/heard them a lot yet here in southern Wisconsin. We are supposed to see some of brood 17, but nothing yet. We just took a road trip to CT/DC/Maryland and we heard them and we just visited Illinois and saw them on the ground. Apparently there is a double-brood outside of Chicago.

The cicada life cycle reenactment was published a month ago. It's really hilarious.

So, how are the cicadas where you live?

Haven't heard them yet.....but it is getting hotter, so they will be arriving soon.
Arizona

I haven't heard a thing. Yet. There's a big tree not too far from my bedroom window, so I'll be serenaded soon enough.

Apparently Lake Geneva is quite the hot spot for them right now. The same article I read said even though not far, the Madison area hasn’t had a brood in some time so they may be gone from the county.

I don't think they're the 17 year ones, but we get them every year. They've been buzzing in the trees and digging holes in the yard for weeks. My dog is thrilled...they're one of her favorite treats!

We had them in the Piedmont area of South Carolina starting in April thru most of May. I’m glad they’re gone - they really can be quite loud and annoying.

We live on the Eastern Shore of MD, and we haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary.

It is a plague here in MO. Everything is cicadas. I'm sitting in my basement typing this and I hear them screaming outside. Parking lots are riddled with their corpses. Any drive on the highway is with the full acceptance that you will kill at least five of them and their guts will not come off your windshield. They are actively dive bombing cars and people, hoping for the sweet release from this plane.

(I'm not being hyperbolic at all--it's truly a plague here and multiple people I know have been "attacked" xD)

They're pretty crazy here in the STL region. Lots of dead bugs, flying bugs, and creepy exoskeletons clinging to almost everything. Not to mention the loud screaming that seems to perpetuate in waves...

I was just going say MO has them loudly !! Tons of them I’ll be glad when they go !!

They've certainly been here in middle TN, since at least Mother's Day. We were outside a bit that weekend, and they were crazy loud. Then started seeing more and more flying, crawling around. Yesterday saw many dozen shells under one of our trees, and we haven't heard any in a few days now....maybe they've moved along. I've enjoyed listening to them.

The brood due in Wisconsin is brood 13, which.... ironically.... Is a 17 year Cicada.
The brood hitting most of the south is Brood 19, which is a 13 year cicada. Toward the southern end of their range, things should be wrapping up soon if they haven't already.
Tennessee will get hit again next year with Brood 14, a 17 year cicada. But most of 14's range does not overlap with 19.

We're in Naperville outside of Chicago. They're too loud to sit outside.Deafening-it's horrendous.
