CIA "kidnapping"

I was wondering the same thing. Any evidence of this somewhere?

Also, Italy has a full court system and lives under the government of its choice. I fail to see why Italian-Americans would claim to be Italian until they are arrested. I'm sure that they know they're American citizens long before that.

Then you have no Italians in your extended family! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: There are two kinds of people. Those who are Italian and those who want to be!

Apparently no evidence at all. While I understand us trying to garner info on terrorists, this repeated thumbing our nose at soverign nations laws is just a bit obnoxious, imho.

They are called secret, undercover operations and black ops, because they are supposed to remain....well secret!

I'm sure the Russians and others that are here undercover will be glad to hear that you approve! If it's ok for us, it's ok for them, right?

No, we have laws against spying, just as they do and if we catch them, we will arrest them. That doesn't mean that we stop running intelligence operations because some countries might be offended. Its what we must do to protect ourselves. Sometimes that means you have to get your hands dirty and associate with less than savory characters. As the saying goes; "If you want to know what the pigs are doing, you have to crawl into the pig pen". Are you actually suggesting that we NOT have a CIA?

I think all of the European countries know what is happening and, at the very least, turn a blind eye to it. How else can you get this terrorist scum off the streets and into a place where they can be cross examined at length.
Imagine having to go through all the formal indictment and extradition process with the terrorists employing high power, low moral human rights lawyers to slow it all down and make any subsequent information no longer of value. How many innocent lives would be lost in the meantime?

Let me get this straight. When another country spys it's called spying and we should arrest them. When we do it it's called intellegence and the soverign country in question shouldn't become offended even though what we are doing is the same thing we would arrest them for if we caught them. Sounds like arrogance to me. I'm all for the CIA, but if they get caught, we shouldn't be shocked and indignant when they get arrested.

First of all, Italy is supposed to be an ally in the war on terror and supposedly we are on the same side in this. They too have been victims of terrorism. The CIA isn't in Italy trying to discover military secrets, (edit out joke, :rotfl: ), they are trying to capture international terrorists who respect no boarders, no countries, and have an ideology of hate. The Italians are so afraid of thier immigrant populations, like many European countries, that they are afraid of offending and their liberal courts would rather let the terrorists seek asylum in Italy, if God forbid, they might be subject to the death penalty in the USA. There was a terrible "murder for hire" in Windsor Locks, Ct. the town next to ours. An Italian citizen was having an affair with a woman who decided to break it off. He hired two hit men and they killed three innocent men with families and children on behalf of this guy. Benedetto Cipriani has successfully fought extridition in Italy for over a year. Who knows when he will stand trial in Ct.

Some points come to mind.

  1. Italy is a European nation. If the CIA 'forgot' to tell Italy about the kidnapping, it was probably because the extradition and/or 'interrogation' violated the Human Rights Act, put in place to ensure that OUR heads don't hang as low as the terrorist's.
  2. Many people who agree with the unannounced kidnapping also agree that America, as a sovereign nation, needs not foreigners telling her how to act. Logically, the same must apply to Italy. Hypocrisy.
  3. For the Italians to issue Europe-wide arrest warrants they would have to be seriously NARKED.
  4. Italian agents are not best known for their subtlety...
