Church Services On Property?

My apologies if this has been discussed before...the search feature is not cooperating with me tonight!

Does anyone know of any church services that are held on property? I am going on a trip with friends in October, and one of my friends was hoping to find someplace to attend church services on Sunday morning. However, we won't have a car, so we would be limited to Disney transportation. Although, I would imagine she would be willing to take a taxi if there are services somewhere nearby.

Thanks! (Sorry if this is OT for this board...it didn't really seem to fit anywhere else...) :goodvibes

They used to have a Catholic Mass onsite, but I understand that the local church didn't have the resources (from a priest perspective) to support that effort. We have seen services during Easter in one of the large hotel ballrooms.

Anyways, a trick to search these boards (since the search function seems to be always broken) is to go to google.com and type in:

church services site:disboards.com

It will return items only from disboards.com.

Most churches have vans/buses that they run. I'm sure whatever church she picks would be glad to pick her up.:thumbsup2

My mom had to take a taxi to church on our February trip. It cost her $30! The concierge at your resort should be able to help you with that.

The Polynesian use to have mass on Sundays. Not exactly sure if they still do. Something makes me want to say no. We go to Mary Queen of the Universe down near the Premium Outlets. They have mass at 6:00 Saturday/Sunday evenings along with morning masses on Sunday. We always have a rental so we drive.

My understanding is that the only church services that take place on Disney property now are Catholic Mass on Easter & Christmas only. I heard that the diocese provides for those 2 occasions because it was almost impossible for guests to go off site on those days and get back onto Disney property because of the traffic.

We always go to Our Lady Queen of the Universe Shrine when we're in WDW and St. Justin Martyr Parish when we're in DLR. Each hotel concierge will gladly inform you of the nearest location of your particular denomination or religion.

The Polynesian mass was discontinued several years ago; the local diocese was a bit short on priests and decided not to continue offering the on-site mass.

That thing was pretty cool, as far as masses go. It was at the big outdoor covered dining area where they used to have the luao - I haven't been to the poly in years, so I don't even know if that dining area is still there. But it was a great atmosphere for a mass- everybody sitting at the tables in their shorts and sneaks. Good times.
