church attire?

yesterday, I just wore a pretty t shirt, hoodie, jeggings and my uggs

some old ladies gave me weird looks though :S

I would wear what I wanted to church if it weren't for my grandmother. I would say my great aunt too, but she's got macular degeneration so she wouldn't know any better.

I think the worst I've done is a small hole in my jeans, and nobody said anything but my mother. It was for the candlelight communion a few years back.

in winter, i wear my jeans and uggs most weeks. i always dress like i would dress if i was going to the mall or something, as does almost everyone else in my church.

Wanda, i kind of agree with your point - i dont think that what you wear should be a distraction to yourself or anyone around you.

and Matt, if you aren't comfortable in your family's church, maybe you should try another denomination. there will probably always be fakers in every church, but finding the right church for you can be extremely beneficial to your growth. there are also other reasons, but i'm going to leave it here so i dont break any rules...

Caitlin, I think you dressed fine. Sounds cute.

I haven't been to church in years, but I'd probably just go for a knee length black skirt and a nice blouse and flats. I see people dress up like that or just nice jeans and shirts. I remember when I used to go, I'd always wear dresses. (:

It really depends on the denomination, if you going to a Foursquare, Christian and Missionary Alliance or a Assembly of God church something nice but casual is completely fine. But if your going to a Morman church for example you should probabally wear your best clothes like a nice dress, or if your a guy a suit. It really just depends on the denomintion of the church

Absolutely, I completely agree. Unfortunately if I decide to seek another church my family will essentially shun me. So for now I just live with it until I can get out on my own and find a church that I truly feel suits my personal faith and views. I dont hate the fact that I have to dress nicely for church, I just hate the fact that I am EXPECTED to.

that makes sense. expectations are stupid.

I really don't go to church much, but if I go I'd just wear regular clothes. For going there (or really anywhere) I follow the same rules that apply for dressing for school. I think it works.:confused3
