Chritmas 2022 booking strategies please help

New DVC member at BWV, struggling with booking our first WDW vacation. We will go Dec 17-31, 2022, staying at our home resort BWV. I just discovered that it is so so so hard to make a reservation.
I want a standard studio. Could you please help with practicable strategies? When should I start to make a reservation? The morning of Dec 17 or 8 days after Dec 17, when the walkers walk over my dates? Pick up one day by one day and combine them? Since I live in the Westcoast, it is torture if I have to wake up at 4:50 every day.
Any advice would be appreciated greatly!

You should start walking now, to be honest.

You have a couple of issues.

1. You want a Standard.

2. You want to book more than 7 nights.

If you cannot start walking between now and 1/17/2022, you'll need to be up at 4:50AM to try to grab your first day. If you cannot, you will want to waitlist that day. You will then repeat each morning, extending the waitlist if none have filled. If you do manage to get your first 7 nights booking, you'll need to add days as time passes, and I probably wouldn't wait until 1/24 to try to get the second week and I'd be adding days before that point.

I absolutely wouldn't wait until 1/25 to try for a Standard studio, as anyone who had been waitlisting before that point will fill in that time.

I'd also consider shortening the stay and going for a Preferred P/G if you're not okay with multiple wakeup calls at 4:50AM.

You are trying for the hardest room type at BWV for one of the busy times,

I would start tomorrow at 8 am and try to get one started and if you can get it, walk it forward,

If not, keep trying. I don’t think it makes sense to pick up days that are dropped if they are not your actual dates, but for sure if they drop for real ones,

The problem is most of the walkers are doing it for December so we are starting to see rooms never come back as they are owners real dates.

The SV studio I was trying for…forgot to start a walk a few weeks ago…has not come back for the dates I wanted so I booked PV instead.

Honestly I wouldn't bother trying to start a reservation right now. It will ease up next week. Members see this week and think it's going to follow thru the rest of the month and it doesn't.
