Christmas

We were there last year from Dec. 19th - 28th. The crowds weren't too bad until the 25th. All of the sudden, there were SOOO many people. We spent our time outside of the parks until the afternoon when we went to Epcot for our Candlelight Package. Epcot was crowded too. But we weren't really there for the rides. We were there for the atmosphere. The rest of the week was pretty crowded. But we used fast pass and looked for things we could do that didn't require long lines.

The week between Christmas and New Year's is the most crowded week of the year at WDW. Christmas Day itself is on a Saturday this year, which means you can expect wall-to-wall crowds at everyplace from MK to DisneyQuest. At least one, and possible two, parks are expected to close at capacity regularly throughout that week. There will be lines for rides and attractions, of course, but also for counter service food, bathrooms, merchandise, busses, monorails, boats, entry, exit, and everything else.

Enter at your own risk!

My cousin and her two DD's went last year, because her DH to visit family outside of the country and she did not want to travel that far with the girls. She took them to WDW instead.

She said never again. It was the most crowded, unpleasant WDW trip she's ever had. She said that they did not even go on a lot of rides because the lines were so long and the FPs were out by mid day. She also said MK closed to capacity several of the days before 10 am.

She did try to make the best of it, and loved the decorations and everything. But she said next time, she's going early in Dec.

By "the week after" do you mean the week of Jan 3? If so ... Christmas decorations will be up for the first few days of that week, but they'll be down by the 5th or 6th.

That first week of January won't even approach the crowd levels of Dec 25-Jan 1.

We are going xmas week, but we go to enjoy the holiday decorations and do "more" things outside of the parks because of the crowds. If you don't plan accordingly based on the crowd levels, which are the highest of the entire year, then you will be very frustrated and disappointed. ::MickeyMo

My family and I will be there Dec 25-Jan 1. We realize it is going to be crowded but we have never exprienced Disney at that time of yr. Ususally we go the 3rd week of April.

I cant wait to get there...and my 2 DD's have no idea we are going

I have gone 4 times that time of the year. It is very special. Do not even try to do everything but pick 3 or 4 most do's and do them.

My favorite it so do all the Christmas shows in the counties in Epcot. To se them all it will take all day, top it off with dinner in the Rose and Crown and watch the fireworks. Best Christmas present you can ever give yourself!
