The curse of the AP has struck again and we are definitely going over the Christmas period - plan to be there 23rd-26th.

I've been reading like crazy but as the Christmas Season extends over November and December, most of the hits I get on searches are for before and after.

Could anyone who has written anything about their stay over Christmas itself please give me links or something to send me in the right direction. And if anyone has been during Christmas week and hasn't written it up, I'd be happy to hear anything you care to share about your experiences/thoughts/recommendations.

I'm well versed on the cold - having been at the beginning of December twice, but more or less any other topics are fair game.

TIA

Have you checked the Trip reports - I know a few have been written by people who've spent Christmas there including Elaine (Warebears)

Have read the ones I could find - but searching for Christmas Day or any similar terms gets reports for before and after the actual Christmas period, which while always interesting, is not quite what I'm after.

You've probably read my Christmas Day by now but if you haven't here's the link. We were there 23rd - 28th and the rest of the days are in the Trip Report Index under 2005.

We loved being there for Christmas itself - we spent it at WDW a couple of years ago and whilst it was still fantastic the DLP decorations are so much prettier.

Planning a 2012 trip over Christmas (probably 12/22 to 12/30) so I have read a lot about this lately. Suggestions I have gotten include: be there at rope drop, stay on-site or as close to Disney as possible, plan ADRs for dinner ahead of time, etc. And slow down to really enjoy it...you will not see everything, but as I see it you WILL see/experience so much wonder that is impossible at any other time of year.

Enjoy :santa:

Thanks for the tips although I won't have any problem slowing down and relaxing :) The way Disney are cutting things at DLRP makes it pretty unlikely that I won't see everything either. But that's another thread altogether. That's a long xmas trip you've planned. No jealously here at all.

Elaine, have read and reread and then reread again your trip report along with all the others cleverly hidden in the trip report index. Don't know why I was messing around with search functions in the first place - I obviously need a holiday.....

It sounds like there used to be a lot more special shows on at xmas - they've really paired things down in recent years. I was going to ask (given how wonderful your trip then was) how come you haven't done it again, but I think I may have partially inadvertently answered my own question.
