We're trying to decide if we should take our FIRST EVER family trip to WDW during Christmas week or over spring break (which is the week of March 17th for us). I realize these are both busy times, I'm just wondering if there are any pros or cons (besides the obvious Christmas decorations pro and big crowds con) to help us decide which week to visit.

We're also deciding between the Swan/Dolphin and Port Orleans Riverside (we're a family of five so we are limited to hotels that sleep five).

Thanks for your thoughts!:flower3:

We are taking our first spring break in 2008, so I am not able to give you a fair comparison. But we were at the world in 2006 for Christmas 12-19-06 to 12-26-06 and absolutely LOVED it.....

I didn't think it was all THAT busy, but it was very pretty and nice to have beautiful weather at christmas....

Good luck deciding and have a great time.

We went for our first trip Dec 27-Jan 4 and loved it. The crowds are gonna be there during both Spring Break & Christmas but I think the park & resorts are sooooo beautiful at Christmas!!

You will be going the week before Easter and it will be crowded. The weather will also be warm, which makes it a plus for swimming and water parks if that is what you like. I usually go for spring break every year and found the crowds to be large but with planning can be managed. They also open the park hours up. Any of the deluxe resorts would be able to accomodate 5. They also have the value resort suites or Fort Wilderness cabins that will fit 5. We are going for New Year's Eve this year, and hope to still be able to see the decorations. You didn't say when in December you plan to go, you could be picking a holiday rate time which would make it much more expensive than the spring break peak rates. If you are going earlier in December I think you can still get a value rate. You need to decide soon if it is this December, things are filling up. Good luck. Oh the weather is iffy in December for swimming and water parks, but the decorations would make it worth the trip.

Both times will be crowded, but Christmas is a very special time to visit WDW. I've been going during Christmas for years now, but usually before Christmas to beat the crowds. IMHO, Christmas would be better.
