Christmas Week - Looking for a DVCer Perspective

Hi all! :wave2:

We've been juggling some things and think that we may be able to vacation at WDW this coming Christmas. I've already booked the 2BR at VWL for December 22 - 29 since it doesn't cost anything to make a reservation. :)

I know that Christmas week is a crazy, crowded week at WDW. We went last summer during 4th of July so I think that gave me a glimpse of what we have in store for us crowd-wise. :crowded:

Here's my request from you good people. We would like to go to the parks and get in a little touring each day, but we aren’t worried about “doing everything” on this trip. What tips do you have for how to handle this week, and how to approach the parks? We are already planning on touring some of the other resorts to see the decorations in our “off park hours”.

I’m imagining that we’ll be there and all the parks will be slammed with people. I guess I’m just looking from the DVCer perspective to keep our vacation as relaxed as possible while still enjoying the parks in some way. I didn’t post this on the Theme Park board because DVC frequent visitors offer a unique perspective on how to approach a trip like this.

Any tips on how to enjoy this week?

You've already got the right idea.....don't plan to see everything and be relaxed! Make ADR's....absolutely essential. Use fastpass and plan to go early in the morning to get the major attractions. Be prepared for colder weather if you don't normally do Dec or Jan.....those people in shorts usually look really cold!

Hi Granny! It's great to see that you may be at our magnificent VWL for Christmas too! My family will be there from the 19th - 25th Then moving to SSR for the 26th - 29th.
I can't wait to see Disney at Christmas. I have already basically planned out our whole itinerary complete with at least where we want to eat most meals, haven't figured out the times yet though.

Here it is if you would like to take a look at it. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=12588988#post12588988

My family is not much for early mornings either but we do it when we are at Disney. We can then come back and rest in the afternoons and we always have a great time.

MAybe we will bump in to you in the lobby. Have fun planning!

We were there for 10 days this past Christmas through New Years as well.

We used a slightly different approach on some days though. On the days that we just could not get to the parks early due to breakfast ADR's or just needing to sleep in, we relaxed and hung out at the resort riding bikes, etc and then went for EMH. We were able to accomplish a lot that way as well

I called VWL last week and all units were available for the week before Christmas. I could not believe it! I figured I had already missed out for the year. I obtained a 2 bedroom. This will be our first time going at this time of year and at VWL. I am so excited. We did a Disney cruise 2 years ago at this same time and the ship was decorated and all kinds of Christmas events , even Mrs. Clause. WE went over for 1 day and it was soooo cold. I hope the weather is better this year. Merry Christmas to all! Let me be the first one to say it! :tink: :tink: :tink:
