We have been to DW several times but never during the holidays. I was wondering just how horrendous the crowds would be. We are thinking of going from 12/26 to 1/1. Also, any hints for how to spend New Year's there. We would be traveling with our 10 yr old Ds, our 19 yr old DS and his girlfriend.

Christmas week is the busiest week of the year for Disney. Any of the parks, but especially the Magic Kingdom during that time, may close the turnstiles after reaching capacity during the day.

As for New Year's Eve, pick a park and plan to stay there. If you leave you may not be able to return later on if capacity has been reached.

Have a safe journey and enjoy the wonderful holiday season at Disney.

Best wishes.

Avoid EMH during the holidays. Go to a non-EMH park first thing at opening. It's amazing how quiet they are (comparatively speaking, of course) first thing in the morning. Leave the parks when they get too crowded....they really do stop being fun when they're shoulder-to-shoulder. There's so much to do at the resorts for the rest of the day, as well as DTD. Make ADRs early and for every conceivable time that you may want a TS restaurant, and cancel the ones you decide against.
I've never done NYE in a park. Honestly, I never desired to. From what I've seen earlier in the day, and from what I've read on these boards, I think my choice is a wise one. NYE day from about 11am on is a MADHOUSE! You get wonderful fireworks every other night. Consider other options.
