Hello all
I booked a trip staying on site from Dec 20-27. We plan to visit the parks from 21-25. Is it true that it gets worse after Christmas to New Year’s? Hoping to dodge a bullet going on the days leading up to the holiday. Does anyone have any tips as to what to do on Christmas Day? Any tips or tricks Dealing with this week would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Christmas Eve through NYE is THE BUSIEST but you're not gonna "dodge the bullet" prior to that because most schools will have their last day before break on December 20th.
Just be prepared for massive crowds.

Personally, we like to do MK Christmas Day. We get up super early, rope drop, do some rides and leave at 11am. Then we book a nice lunch somewhere, head back to the resort to open stockings, nap, swim and head back to the parks in the evening for fireworks.

My main tip is to avoid driving this week. Use Disney transportation to get around.

I like AK for Xmas day. It's the least popular option and it's relatively chill. MK for Christmas eve with dinner at Liberty Tree and the holiday fireworks is pretty much perfect, although we'll be doing Epcot this year instead.

Since park reservations have been removed this year, I would not count on getting back into the MK if you leave. The past few years have had park reservations so a guest with a reservation was guaranteed re-entry. Since park reservations are no longer in place for the majority of guests, there is no guarantee you will be able to re-enter the MK if you leave. Prior to park reservations (2019 and earlier) the MK often filled to capacity by late morning/early afternoon and guests we denied entry/re-entry.

Phased closures were in effect during these years. The closures were generally lifted by mid/late afternoon. Some people were shut out for a few hours. I’m assuming they’d move to phased closings this year again if necessary.

We never had an issue getting back to the MK in the evening. If that were to happen, I’d recommend hopping to Epcot if you have a hopper.
