Hi, I am asking this to the brides out there that are planning a wedding or vow renewal at or around the holidays, I am wondering if you are using Christmas as your "theme" and if you are willing to give me some thoughts and ideas. I am thinking that since it is already so heavily decorated during the holidays I would like to go with an overall Christmas theme. I had thought about a "winter wonderland" styled theme with snowflakes and all that but I really want red as the primary color scheme, here are my thoughts so far.

Flowers- deep red roses- I think I've heard them referred to as Black Magic Roses on here, and maybe a mix of cream colored roses as well but definitely deep red and a hand tied round bouquet and a flower wand for my daughter.

My dress - I really really wanted to incorporate color in it as well and I found a dress that I love and it has red in it as well. not sure how to post a pic but I will as soon as I figure it out. it is by Marys Bridal and it comes in either white and red or ivory and red, plus it comes with a veil that is also accented with the red color.

The Cake- I am thinking either something with fresh flowers like the escape one with roses and drapes or a small mad hatter cake with christmas theme and colors red, green, white and gold.

I want a large arrangement for the altar but I am not sure if I want to pay the amt dftw will charge, so I am wondering if you can bring your own?

I welcome your thoughts and opinions and ideas.
Thanks
Shea

Im using a Christmas theme for my wedding. My fiance and I both love Christmas time and it fits us perfectly. We are also having red as our color. We are using a deep red color and gold. I plan on using red flowers and my bridesmaids are going to wear red dresses. My dress is ivory and it has gold in the beading so it goes well with my colors. I am going to wear gold jewelry and shoes and so are my bridesmaids.

I had mine right after Christmas, so I didn't use that as a theme. However, I was thinking about that for a while! If you want to save some money, you could use things like berries, evergreen branches, bare tree branches (or ones with fake snow), or other natural items that aren't flowers. We saved a lot of money using palm leaves and peacock feathers in our large arrangements. We also surrounded those with mercury glass votives, which would work well for the holidays too. Just remember that roses will be expensive. I have a thing for orchids, so we had those "scattered" throughout the different things (bouquet, sprays on the BMs muffs, loose on our table). Oh! And we used my bouquet as the centerpiece for our table as well.

I had a Christmas Theme!

I had a mix of black magic, ivory and red roses with berries and evergreen things in my bouquet.

The cake was a Christmas tree and our centerpieces were pointsettias with the same greens from my bouquet.

We were going to do ornaments as favors but decided instead to put the $$ toward a caricature artist!

We did a mix of Christmas music and our favorite songs during the ceremony and reception.

I love your cake!!! That is such a cute idea. I am doing the ornament idea, I really like your idea of the caricature artist though. My parents did that for their 25th wedding anniversary and everyone really enjoyed it!

I went to a beautiful Christmas party this year that had some great decorations. I plan on getting married around Christmas time and I have found some pictures of elegant Christmas decorations as inspiration..here are a few

Hi Shea,

All of your ideas sound good.:woohoo: I love the idea of having a little red in the dress. So festive for the holidays!:thumbsup2
I also am a fan of the black magic roses. As far as bringing in your own alter arrangement, I know you can do this. You don't have to use Disney Floral.
You could use them for your bouquet and your daughters wand then bring in your own unity candle or alter arrangement.

I think the mad hatter cake would be nice too. I also love the Christmas Tree Cake that someone posted above. Did the Grand Floridian bake that cake? It's so cool!

I am having an August wedding but I love red so this is my dress:

and I am having burgundy calla lillies for my bouquet.

my sister is wearing a red

dress as well (and yes that is my sister we're twins :rotfl:)
