Christmas Trip

I need some advice.

My wife and I are thinking of taking the kids 6 & 8 to DW December 19-23. I want to use my DVC points and stay at the Wilderness Lodge. When should I book my trip? I guess when should I make up my mind and pull the trigger?

We were also going to make this trip part of their Christmas present and for my son lump his birthday into this trip as well. His birthday is the same day as the Super Bowl this year and from past experience we get hardly anyone to come to his party because of that. I feel bad for the little man. Also since it is in February, weather is awful and we have had some very cold space walk experiences.

You might want to look into availability ASAP!! We are booked at SSR and this week we were looking to switch to OKW for more elbow room, and we had to be waitlisted! Good luck!

Have you called to see if there is availability? I have seen many, many wait list threads for those times and nothing available (but maybe only for specific resorts). We made our reservation in May for AKV and they had very little availability left. I would call MS first thing tomorrow and perhaps that will help you decide. Good luck!

I successfully switched my SSR res. to VWL in May but I had to be waitlisted for almost all the days. It only took a week for it to come through but that was 3 months ago. Like a PP said...call tomorrow. If not I hope you still go and consider staying somewhere else?

Unfortunately, you probably waited too late to get VWL. I seriously doubt you will find anything available on points at this time. VWL is the smallest DVC at WDW, and highly desirable at the holiday time, so it was probaby booked no later than 7 months out.

You can't use points at WL if that was what you were thinking.

You can go to any of the resorts you wish. However, as others have pointed out already, don't get your hopes up of going to any of them this December. Most of the places have already booked up and waitlisted months ago.

For popular times of the year, you really need to make reservations at the 11 month window. Anything later is going to risk not getting what you wanted.

Here's a link to the whole DIS/DVC waitlist thread for December - the first post has the current info on who's waiting for a room somewhere in December. Don't let this keep you from calling though -- it was just to give you an idea of what looks to be booked up. SSR is the largest resort, so you'd be most likely to find availability there (and it's very nice, IMO). Good luck!

PS -I don't see any DISers waitlisted at SSR for your dates, so it might be available.

Why are you wasting your time asking here?? Member services is open 7 days a week, and they're the only ones who know if there's anything available. Call them!

I'd be interested in knowing what you found out, last I knew they were booked and the waitlist was long. I've been told that for those prime dates, you really need to call at the 11 month mark for home resort advantage!!

I called last week looking for a studio and your dates were not available anywhere. However, CS told me that they had a large amount of 1BRs left for many dates. Good luck.
