Like the title says, we are going for 2 nights/3 days this Christmas period before heading off to stay with family in France for actual Christmas eve/day.

Is there a 'best' hotel to stay at? One that's more Christmasy than the others or are they all much of a muchness? It will be for 2 adults (30th birthday girl & 62yr old granny!) and 1 child (6yr old boy!). I like the look of Hotel New York but open to suggestions from Disney vets!

I am also confused about the half board meals. If I buy one with my booking does that mean we get 2 meals or 3?

Thanks in advance! I am very enthusiastic newbie as this is probably the one time we get to go as we are moving to Australia in the next few years.

i have never been when its actual christmas time, but the sequoia lodge is lovely at winter, especially with the open fire in the bar/lounge area so i would imagine when its decorated for xmas it would be lovely and christmassy

as for the vouchers you get a voucher for one meal (as you already get breakfast as part of the hotel/ticket booking with disney) and its one voucher per person per night you stay (not days) so ie if you are there for 2 nights and 3 days, you get 2 vouchers each

I would also vote for the sequoia in the winter. On our christmas trip we stayed at the cheyenne because it was much cheaper but would have loved to be in the sequoia.:goodvibes

Thank you! I am just finding my feet. Still can't decide where to go though. I've read more bad reviews of SL then HNY which is why I was keen on HNY but SL does sound like it'd be nicer at Christmas

If you've been reading reviews on Trip Advisor Id take them with a grain of salt. I only use it to see pics now as I find the reviews to be quite off mostly. It slates SF which we found to be perfect and hypes up NPB a bit more then we found it warranted. Its very hit and miss.

SL is being refurbed (mostly done now I think) so the rooms are going to be of a better standard. Have a search on google images or try here or DLRP magic for refurb pics. The rooms look fab.

SL is our next trip and HNY the following trip (although maybe DLH if funds can stretch!)

We had drinks in SL and HNY and SL would seem more to be more of a 'chesnuts roasting on an open fire' vibe!

Maybe do a poll? I think you'll get better on point reviews. Also its worth bearing in mind that the standard hotel rating that the DLP hotels have does not always compare to the standard you would get at other hotels. Ive stayed in far nicer hotels in Ireland (for alot less, naturally) with the same star rating but 100% better decor and quality. You're definately paying for the proximity to parks, theming which sometimes are a bit jaded but I think overall the hotels are very good at DLP. Happy planning :goodvibes

That's really helpful, thanks! Will do a poll though hope people don't mind a poll.

Sorry, are Montana rooms the ones that have been refurbed? That seems to be what is coming up on the booking site

I'm having a similar dilemma! :goodvibes

We have stayed in both SL and HNY and been pleased with both.:thumbsup2 Montana Rooms are supposed to be the refurbished rooms in the lodges (According to the brochure) Cheaper alternatives are lake view rooms in the main building or standard rooms in the main building. We had one of these before and it was fine.

I am torn betweem the lovely bar area of the SL - much more suited to families with small children IMHO - and HNY which is closer to the park, has a slightly better breakfast option and slightly larger rooms.

As I am travelling with MIL maybe the larger room is a good idea?!!! :rotfl:

However, SL is cheaper and I can spend more on my meals then, and maybe a lovely Redwood Cocktail?!!! ;) (Or upgrade to a character breakfast)

Decisions, decisions, decisions...

I am hopeless at decisions! I've worked out now the difference in our stay at HNY or SL would be £73.50 so not too much but still enough.

What I cannot work out and I have read the small print over and over is the difference between Half-Board plus package and Half-Broad premium package. With both you can go to the Wild west show, walts, cafe mickey & blue lagoon (all places I want to eat!) & get 10% off other places.

Is it that there is a difference to which menus you are entitled to eat at the restaurants? So for the pricer meal voucher you get to eat from the 'better'/more ££ menu? I am going to do a sep post for this too!

We welcome polls with open arms!!
As regards the half board vouchers you can use the face value of the vouchers and order what you want from the full menu. You just pay the difference if there is any.
Can someone verify but I think all rooms are to be finished (refurbed) by November???

We're staying in HNY this Christmas, and I will shamelessly admit that my boyfriend and I were won over by the idea of having hot items in the breakfast buffet! If we were going at any other time of year it wouldn't make much odds, but with the bitter winter weather at DLP we see that one extra hot meal as a blessing. :rotfl:
