Christmas Travellers Anyone?

2.5 weeks til we are to leave (land crossing). If it turns south for us, 200ish DVC points will be put into holding (points that are current use year and could have been banked into the next use year but not when they're put into holding) and will have to be used by end of July.

It will be the straw that broke the camel's back for us regarding our DVC. A cash booking would have been fully refundable and in this unstable environment (who knows how long this will last - even with vaccines there are a LOT more people on the planet since 1918) and my ability to only travel during school breaks, well

Fingers crossed for us - my backup is to stalk a booking for anytime in July (once I hit 60 days out of course ). I stalked and pulled together a 2 bd preferred at SSR for Dec 18-24 at about a month out. I can stalk July at 60. I’m nothing if not tenacious


Our party tix are a sunk costs, on the other hand. That was a calculated risk - on the one hand the Dec 19 party *did* sell out like I knew it would. On the other… if we can’t go… that's 1200$ usd wasted

Ok just read this. They are only CONSIDERING changing the testing. They may not even do that. I think we all need to relax a bit.

This can’t be stressed enough. It’s how misinformation runs rampant. It’s worrisome for sure but I can’t make any decisions until I have facts.

and calculated risks still hurt a little bit. Maybe there’s no surprise factor but there’s always a disappointment factor.
I’m still hopeful to be honest. We shall see.

They were providing refunds to people for Boo Bash tickets who couldn't travel due to COVID (or COVID-restrictions) -- so if you do end up cancelling, I'd recommend calling them and explaining you simply couldn't go.

Thx! We are seriously stressed out over here - just one of our 3 kids gets dinged as a close contact on the bus/at school (different busses, different schools, different classes ) and that’s it. They must quarantine for 10 days despite being fully vaccinated. A refund would be nice under those circumstances, but definitely not expected!

This is my major worry now. We will see alot of people over Christmas. We have to. But it’s not lost on me that I have to get through the Christmas season Covid free to make it on that plane January 2nd . Nevermind that my daughter is a young adult, works in a school, will see her friends and fiancés family and so on.

There is just going to have to be a lot of luck on my side along with all the regular hand washing and masking.

Every day we have bus and class cohorts dismissed. Teachers are vaccinated and sent right back into the next cohort the following week and yet fully vaccinated kids are not allowed to go to school or prove they are negative. So needlessly stressful and arbitrary.
