Christmas travel to WDW and elevated threat alert.

Gotcha.....thought it would be interesting seeing someone trying to get through security in a wedding dress.....

:p

I always wear platform flipflops. That way I just take the off and put them on the table Easy on easy off. Bring a pair of thick socks for the plane.

Also note if you don't want to get stopped going through security wear as little jewlery as possible and don't wear clothing that has lots of metal on it. My MIL and I both got to wanded down at the airport. They said all the little jewlery and metal adds up and that's why it goes off.

Have lots of fun.

That's a great idea!! Platform flip flops!!! Very quick and easy! So once you get on the plane you put on some socks?

Thanks!

agreewith that!
youngest daughter is in Hawaii till the end of the month then LA for a few days before heading home ...first the earthquake by LA and now the alert...Mama hen would* rather *all her chicks were home except we live 15 miles from a nuclear power plant..critical times we live in.

We went to WDW this past May on the first day of the code orange alert; it was right after the govt released the info that they had found terrorist info that included maps of WDW. I got nervous at Fantasmic when I saw a plane fly over since WDW is a no fly zone then suddenly there were helicopters buzzing the area. Then I figured out it was just the increased security. The only drawback was the helicopters were a distraction and really noisy.

Would I go again during code orange? yes.

We went to WDW last Feb. before the war in Iraq. A week before we left the govt. put out an orange alert and the news was filled with warnings of bio and chem attacks (remember duct tape and plastic sheeting?). I was a little nervous then, not because I thought something would happen to us on our trip, but because I didn't want anything to happen to anyone, anywhere. I was so stressed out, in fact, that when our power went out one evening for about 20 seconds for no explainable reason (no storms around that night), I went into full fledged panic attack! It wasn't until I turned the TV back on and saw the local newscasters still chirping along, that I knew nothing had really happened. Then and there, I decided not to let it worry me anymore and enjoy our trip. It was the best trip I've had in a long time! It was so nice to get away from the news and spend time in a place where everyone is happy and friendly. I even bought a "Peace, Love, and Mickey Mouse" t-shirt and declared it my motto for the week. Now, with another trip planned for mid-January, we're under another orange alert, and I'm having to go through the same thing again. They're so serious about this one, and it's hard not to worry about something happening, but I'm just looking forward to being back at the "Happiest Place on Earth" so I can forget about all this for awhile! If only all the world could be like WDW!:earsboy:

sorry to be so ignorant but why is WDW a no fly zone? plus I remember seeing arieal pics of it so maybe I don't know exactly what that is:confused:

I have seen that about the wdw/terrorist stuff too and
can't figure out why it is a target since all nationalities are there:confused:

guess i just don't have that mentality so it makes no sense to me

Daisy - what are you going to do with your dress once you get it on the plane? If you put it in the overhead it could get smashed. There is very little closet room on a plane, usually reserved for first class (and only big enough for suit jackets). My suggestion would be to mail the dress to Orlando and have a bridal shop or cleaners press it off there. I was in a wedding where one of the bridesmaids lived in Mississippi, she had the dress fitted there and then mailed to the wedding city, where a bridal shop took care of it.

Atotty - we noticed the helicopters overhead in October. Someone said it is a tourist helicopter based in Kissimmee, but that sounds risky, I don't believe it.
