Hi there all....hot on the heels of my first ever trip to WDW I'm going to DLRP in December with my DBF for a 3/4 day stay. We're about to sign up to the DVC and won't get to use all our points at WDW before they expire next year so we're hopping across the pond to Paris and staying on site!!

I've done a day trip to DLRP to surprise a friend on her birthday - that was in November a couple of years ago and we had fun and saw the day parade but missed out on so much as it was only a day and we had to get to the airport for our 9pm flight home!!

Can anyone help with some definate must-do's for us as I'm hoping to really make the trip special for DBF - he spoiled me like crazy in WDW 2 months ago and I really want to return the kindness...surprise him as much as possible and really have a nice romantic, fun break together.

Some questions - Does Father Christmas make an appearance and can you go visit? Are there any magical traditions that only happen at Christmas time?

Anything basically - tell me all!!

Really appreciate your help....thank you!!
Mel :stitch2:

we went in Dec 06 and had a lovley time, xmas is probably my fave time to visit, i am hoping to get a sneaky trip in during dec...:lmao: something that is def worth doing is ice skating outside the hotel new york on a cold crisp evening and then heading inside for a nice warm hot choc or follow it with a walk around the lake, we sat on a step and just soaked in the disney magic, pure heaven :goodvibes

Ahh. Christmas is such a magical time to go! :wizard:
We also went in 06. And would definetly agree with the ice skating at HNY.
Theres always alot going on, especially if you go for new years like we did :woohoo: .

The decorations and everything else are just amazing. I could have spent allday frolicking in the snow that they pumped out over main street :rotfl: . But if youre lucky like us it might snow for real!

it was ages ago we went to dlrp for christmas but when we did go you go ice skating with the characters at new york hotel and it was just magical one of my life long fave memorys and we did see santa there but it was heaving with people and didnt get close enough to see him but still amasing every thing is more magical at disney

If Fantillusion is on during the Christmas season, make a reservation at Walt's to eat about an hour before it's due to start - and put in a very polite request for a window table ;) Then enjoy a lovely meal and a great (and warm!) view of Fantillusion while you eat dessert :cloud9:

When we went last year Santa had a meet and greet in his sleigh in Town square

Here's a picture of DD meeting him:goodvibes

Hiya,

We went last year from 15-18th of December. It was manic but well worth it. I was getting very stressed about taking my 3-months old baby with us in the cold weather but last december it wasn't too bad. It did rain on a few occasions but hey, we still spent most of the time outside and absolutely LOVED it!!!

They decorated it nicely, all the characters wore their Xmas outfits and the whole atmosphere was just magic. I'd say go mid-week to avoid crazy queues on the weekend and book restaurants in advance. Also try and get a good place to stand for the parades - we camped for a good hour on Main Street USA so that my DD1 (5) can see all the parades.

How very exciting! I hope you enjoy it as much as we did - this is why we're going back in 2 weeks time (3rd trip in a year). WOO HOO!!!:cheer2:

Thanks for all the ideas guys - they sound fab!! I'm sooooo excited, I love Christmas!!

When I went in the November it was early november and the Tree was yet to unveiled but we saw the Christmas parade - that was a giggle....we'd be there at the very start of december this time so we'd definately be there in the heart of the season!!

I can't wait to get all wrapped up and snuggly in DLRP with my DBF....

I love DLP at Christmas! So much so that we are thinking of going again at that time instead of Halloween! My faves are the snow on Main St; Fantillusion and drinking numerous cups of gorgeous hot choc! Have a look at www.dlrpmagic.com for more info on the Xmas season!

Was Fantillusion on last year during the whole x-mas season? (beginning November - beginnig January)

Hi there,
In a moment of weakness, I have just booked to stay at the Sequoia Lodge for 3 nights over new year including New Years Eve.

Has anyone ever stayed over new year? If so do you have any tips or advice.
We are taking my 2 little darlings aged 8 and 5.

Also what is the best thing to do on New Years Eve so that you make the best of it?
Do you recommend the gala dinners in the hotels or just to eat on the park?

What were the parades like on NYE?

Did the hotel shuttle buses operate untill the early hours?

Any advice would be great

Thanks
Kathryn :cheer2:

Hi KATHRYNM and welcome to the DIS. Why don't you open a new thread for all your questions, I'm sure then you will get a lot of answers. :thumbsup2 :yay:

:welcome: Hi Mel and Kathryn, welcome to the DIS! :welcome:

Marcus is right Kathryn, it's best to start new threads ~ everyone on here is very helpful but people don't always spot questions if they aren't in a new thread. :goodvibes

I can't help with NYE but I have stayed there over Christmas and it was absolutely magical but VERY cold. You will definitely need to have very warm clothing especially thermals. :cold:

YES THANKS FOR THAT I WILL DO.

BIT OF NOVICE WHEN IT COMES TO THINGS LIKE THIS

No probs :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

It's just that you're more likely to have your questions noticed on a new thread rather than an existing one.

Thanks for all the tips and info guys - I'm soooooooo excited....I can't wait to see the whole snow on main street....I'm like a 5 year old when I'm at Disney - add Christmas in and I'll be ready to burst with excitement lol!!
