Christmas at Disneyland Resort will begin officially on Nov 10th. As posted on the DL Blog: https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/b...ry-7/?CMP=EMC-DPFY17Q4wo0831170906170009C&dpb

It looks very similar to last year, with the exception of PtN not being mentioned for a return on select nights. Hopefully that gets added in, but it'll probably be after our trip anyway.

With this happening at the very same time as the big race weekend, I would imagine that Friday will be an painful 10 out of 10 crowd day :scared:

The race is why we chose not to go that weekend, even though the 11th is my birthday. But i'll be there the weekend after and can't wait to see all the decorations!

If my AP expired a few days later, I'd be skipping it to. It's going to be MADNESS!

I'll be sending positive vibes your way! Hopefully they don't cancel the fireworks on you. (I'm pretty sure it was you that said they tend to get cancelled when you go on another thread.)

Yip! That was me. Horrible luck. But maybe I notice more than others. To me, fireworks are the main Disney attraction for me. With as often as they get cancelled, I wish they'd just do them all year round like they do at WDW.

We will be there! It will be FUN!!! Last weekend was the Disneyland Half marathon, crowds in the park were relatively light! We had fun!

We will be there for the run. Most runners go to bed earlyish as start time is 5 am! Due to getting a crazy cheap flight we will be there Thurs- Mon which feels too long but if it is more crowded than I suppose more days is better. We were there a few days before Xmas in the rain... that was not much fun, really hard to tell who is who in a sea of ponchos.

Last year wasn't bad. I was there the weekend of the race, beginning of the holiday and Veterans Day, it was totally fine. I think it was 6s and 7s Friday-Sunday.

We will be one of those crazy families that will be at DLR from Christmas Eve to New Year's day. This is our first time to ever do any sort of Disney park for a couple of major holidays and we are so up for the challenge (another thing to cross off on our Disney bucket list). We will be staying at GCH therefore we will be doing EMH each day we are in the parks (have 5 day park hoppers) and we are hoping to do at least 1 sit down restaurant each day just to get a break from the crowds, the only days we are planning on having 2 sit downs in a day are on Christmas day (we will be in DL for the day) and New Year's Eve (we will be in DCA for the day) . This is a surprise trip for my 2 DDs who are 16 and 14 and they won't know until 2 weeks before the trip (telling them on my birthday). I cannot wait to be in DLR for my favorite time of year :santa:.

This will be the first year in almost 20 we WON"T be there. But my daughter and I just made the decision to come down Dec 22-26. We leave for WDW Dec 29-Jan 9. But we need our DL fix.

Wow that is awesome!!! I know you will have an amazing trip at both DLR AND WDW. We did a December trip in WDW in 2009 (it was the first week of December) and we loved everything about it. We have been to WDW many many times (it is our home away from home) and that one trip was the best trip that we had so far....well minus our first trip to DLR of course :goodvibes.

We generally are at Disneyland from Dec 22 (give or take a day or 2) until Jan 4th(give or take a day or 2) every year. This year, they voted and we are going to WDW. We have never been, but will be going with another family with a lot of experience. But we need our Christmas fix, so a few of us will do Disneyland for Thanksgiving and Christmas, then head to WDW. We have our meals nailed down, rooms done ((Animal Kingdon Jambo House Grand Villa for a couple days, then to a 2 bedroom Bay Lakes for the rest of the trip) and just waiting on FP. I hate this much planning!! It will be sweet doing DL and just figuring it out a few days in advance...

I used to put stock in TouringPlans and other crowd calendars. But they seem to be off more than on. Earlier this year on March 3, TouringPlans had DL at a 4 on a Friday. It ended up being a 9/10. And if felt every bit of it.

I think the crowd calendars actually influence crowds to go when it's supposed to be empty! Wouldn't it be something if we all found out that Disney was behind all those calendars, influencing when crowds show up??? Wow - only Monday morning and I'm coming up with conspiracy theories.

Those are historic numbers from last year, not predictions. It was not bad at all Veterans Day weekend last year. I was there and it was a lot more pleasant than mid week in October!

I agree with you. We didn't find it bad at all. But what some think is a nice day, and be crowded and miserable to another.

Oh for sure, I just wanted the OP to realize that those were actual numbers I posted from touring plans. I agree with him that the prediction calendars are all wonky - but the numbers show that it wasn't a total crowded mess like people assume it may be with the beginning of the holidays, Veterans Day AND a marathon.
