Christmas time 2009

We are trying to start planning our first Christmas Disney trip We want to go Dec 19-25, 2009. We are going to reserve at SSR at 11months to make sure we have a room but are still looking at other places. We want a studio. Do you think we have a chance at anywhere else at the 7month window? If so where?

We didn't have any problem getting a studio at seven months at AKV last Christmas (Dec. 20-26). It was our 1st stay at AKV & we loved it!

We own at SSR and booked our upcoming trip for a studio at SSR (Dec. 7th-13th) at the 11 month window, exactly. When we booked, it was one of the wonderful weeks of Disney from 2007 calendar. However, we have been waitlisted since the exact 7 day window mark for AKV or VWL ad our waitlist hasnot come thru, yet. We only have 1 more day before we have to call to make the waitlist go past the 31 day mark. I'm not holding my breath! Now this week, which has always been quiet has shifted to be POP Warner Week because of the whole leap year, push forward of days. UGHHHHH!!!

I hope you have better luck than us....I would have thought that something would have come thru by now!

I think you will have an easier chance for Christmas next year if you want something other than BLT. BLT is going to be highly sought after. AKV should be fairly easy to get since Kidani is opening in May. VWL and BCV are always going to be tough since they are the smallest resorts. Good Luck!

Good new is, we'll have our home resort SSR locked up, so for sure we know we'll be there. It'll be fun to try and get VWL or another place at the 7 month window.

I think you'll have an easier time at the 7 month window for the resorts that are still being sold like AKL and BLT. I think that is why lots of folks get AKL at the 7 month because they do not have a full allocation of owners calling at the 11 month window since not all the points aren't sold yet. So if you make sure you call first think at the 7 month window, you may be able to get AKL or BLT. Good Luck!

We own at VWL just so we can get December at the 11 month mark. I wouldn't count on getting December at 7 months, although anything is possible.

Your UY will not effect the availability of a reservation. To maximize the likelihood you will get a reservation at your home resort, you should call 11 months prior to your check in date.

The only time when your Feb UY may impact your Dec reservation is if you need to cancel your Dec reservation more than 30 days in advance, but after your banking deadline of Sept 30. While the points will be refunded to you, you might have a problem finding another reservation using those points before they exprie January 31. Best of luck -- Suzanne

We had no problems switching this year's res (12/17-12/26) from an SSR studio over to VWL at the 7 month mark. I did have to waitlist a few days but they came through within a week. Good luck!!
