We want to give the kids (9 and 6) a Christmas gift of a Hawaii trip, which we are actually taking at the end of February.

I thought this was such a great idea, but now I'm stumped. We did purchase make your own ukulele kits for them and cameras.

What ideas do you have? Thanks!

I have gifted Disney Trips and Cruises for the kids. I have done backpacks full of stuff to do on the plane. Also, things like a new swimsuit, flipflops, sunglasses maybe a Visa Gift Card for spending money or cash in a small wallet.

Maybe you could wrap it all up with a note that says "You have XX number of days to practice!" And then put in a countdown to your trip (a countdown chain, or tear off calendar). Since you are on the Dis I have to ask- are you staying at Aulani? Or just going somewhere else in Hawaii? If so you could add in a picture of Mickey in his "summer" gear and you could say "Mickey is going on vacation and so are you! He can't wait to see in the beautiful islands of Hawaii" or something like that.

Have fun, Hawaii is so beautiful no matter where you go :)

We are going to Aulani. We have never been so this trip is a big deal. Thanks for the suggestions.

Oh my goodness I am jealous! Have you watched the DIS video podcast that they did from there? I bet it will get you guys really excited and your kids would have fun watching all the clips.

Here is the podcast, but look for all the little clips too, they have some great ones on activities, room overview, lobby overview etc.

Maybe you have already seen all these, but if you haven't they are worth a watch (not that I have been to Aulani...just a dreamer!).

Maybe do a Scavenger hunt with clues. Start it with Mickey is going on vacation, can you help guess where he's headed? Hide a clue by the fire place and say something like "It's very hot there" and one in the bathtub and say "there will be lots of water" and one either by a fish tank or a fishing pole in the garage and say "there will be lots of fish", you could gift the swimsuits or goggles or sunscreen and say "you use these a lot there" etc. Then once you can reveal it's Hawaii with a little map and picture of the resort and say Mickey wants you to join him there in February! Sounds like they are old enough to understand something fun like that and would enjoy the hunt!

Photo Album and a journal.

A book on Hawaii or pamphlets so they can see what is there and maybe plan a trip to a beach or other activity they would like while you are there.
