*****Christmas Stocking Exchange-Sent/Recieved*****COMPLETED

Ahhh....good. We don't put names on ours here.....we have furry stockings. We know who they belong to by the hanger ;)

I'll be mailing mine out later this week. I sure hope she likes it. I'm nervous because I'd hate to think I disappointed anyone. I tried to put fun things that fit with her likes. I'm just such a people pleaser. You know the one person who always just wants everyone to be happy. :sunny:

I used a priority flat rate box....the long one ;)

ok this is gonna be a dumb question, but do the prioirty mail boxes that they have at the PO cost money or are they free? I got my stocking today and a few items for it. I'm picking up the rest of my items on Wednesday.

There are also Priority Mail envelopes that the post office offers for free, but the boxes might be a better deal so that your stocking and items doesn't get smashed.

I am not putting a name on the stocking that I am sending. I have terrible handwriting.

Just today, (I teach pre-school, it's a multi-age classroom) and the kids said, "Teacher Malaysia, that's not how you write that letter, you write it like this" :rotfl:

If I put a name on a stocking you would probably think that I was 3.

It wouldn't look too good....the stocking is so cute!

My stocking is stuffed (and I mean stuffed!) and I am going to mail it tomorrow. Are those priority boxes from the PO out on a counter to just take or do you have to ask for one from the postal worker? How deep are they?

I plan on using a box so that my beautiful stocking doesn't get crushed!

For the post offices that I have been to, you just go to the side counter where they are placed along with all the different forms-(delivery confirmations, internation forms....), and you just help yourself. If you don't see it, then ask your postal worker. They even have the priority mail labels for free or you can print them out online on the USPS website.

Patsy, do you have to pay online for the label or can you pay at the PO?

And how deep is this priority box? Is it like a robe box? Or is it square?

Pooh67_68, Meriweather, and mommytotwo,

Thanks for the informative info on the priority mail boxes. I'm going to have to pick some up tomorrow at the post office. I have just one other dumb questions though (wanna make sure I do it right). So I get the box fill it up then all I need to put on it are the person I'm mailing it to and my return address right and then bring it back to the PO and pay to have it mailed right?

ADisneygirl Check this out for box sizes for the flat rate boxes:

If you print the label online, you get free delivery confirmation.
You can set up an account and pay online too or you can print without postage and take it in to the post office for that.

So many priority mail box questions! ;) Lemme try - they are free, they are sometimes available at your local PO. In my case, I have heard that the POs themselves do NOT carry a stock of them (seems stupid, but :confused3 ), and that they receive their stock from people (like Nancy or me ;) ) who order boxes of boxes/supplies, and give them their excess. Take what you can, when you can, but remember, you don't need a Priority Box/envelope to send Priority. They will tape/mark your box/package with Priority if you ask/pay for it. ;) There are many different sizes, depths, lengths, etc. Check out usps.com

I got the stocking I ordered today, and waiting for one more 'special' item to add that I ordered. ;) If it's not here in time, I'll mail it later, but I will get the majority out on time. ::yes:: Mail-by 11/12, right? ;) I've got some time. :)

Yep...any box can be priority...BUT only 2 sizes are the flat rate sizes. They have special markings on there.
Excess boxes?? What's that Kim? ;)
I seem to be always ordering more...although now it is those flat rate ones. Doesn't take much to get to that being the better deal, at least not from this side of the country going east.
