Hi,
Instead of Christmas gifts we are planning a christmas trip for our boys ages 18 and 14! We are staying at Huntington Beach for my surfer 18 year old. And we are planning a day trip to disneyland. I was hoping for some suggestions of items they would like that I could get online before we go in Jan. Any ideas? I want them to have some small items to unwrap on christmas morning. Do they have the sorcerers of the magic kingdom there? If so I think they would like the interactive shirts.
Thanks for the help!:goodvibes

I would check out both Amazon, and Disney.com website. A Disney stocking filled with stuff would be cool. You could get a Disney gift card with a Christmas scene on it. I saw an adorable Sully and also a Mike nightlight even an older kid might like. My niece who is 13 started collecting Disney pins. She happened to get a POC pin which was (you know the round thing to stear a ship or boat :scratchin), anyway it actually opens and has a mirror or something inside. I thought it was so fantastic!

thanks! I'm checking the link for disneyland! I am wondering if they still have those hats that change colors with world of color?

You mean the Glow with the Show ears? Those were still pretty plentiful in the parks at the end of September. I don't think they're as successful as Disney had hoped, but I didn't see any indications that they were being phased out (in other words, they were still available in lots of shops).

Since DL has the Nightmare Before Cmas overlay on Haunted Mansion, I wonder about some NBCmas things? There are cool ornaments and shirts and other things available online that might appeal to teenage boys.

Snacks that they could eat on the trip, itunes gift card, disney dollars, lanyard, PJs, socks...

I think the glow ears are so cute. They had them at DL Paris when we were there last year, but they cost wayyyyy too much. It's such a gimmicky thing and you want as many people as possible to wear them. Why not sell them for about $5-10?? I think they were closer to $30.

I'll preface this by saying I'm not a huge fan of the Glow with the Show ears. (I have a pair). As noted by GPmice they look best when there are lots of guests wearing them, but they really aren't that popular. There are usually only a handful of guests wearing them (at least when I've been to DLR). If you're unfortunate enough to be standing behind someone wearing them, they're pretty distracting. And if you're the one wearing them, you can't see the colors changing! They're also heavier and shaped differently than normal Mickey ears, so be sure to try them on before buying them.

They run about $25 (including tax).

While they only synchronize with the shows inside the park, they do have an on/off switch. So you can turn them on when your back home (or anywhere) and they will light up. They'll cycle through the colors, so they still have some "fun-factor" outside the park. They use replaceable batteries, so you can replace the batteries when they start to fade.

If you buy the glow with the show ears before you go be aware they are going to be difficult to pack if you are flying because you can't fold the back in they way you can with some because of the battery pack area in the middle of the hat.

thanks! I never would have known that!

No problem. I only know it because I got some for my trip and i'm thinking of leaving them at home now because I can't pack them easily. I'd have to carry them and don't fancy it with a 13 hour flight :lmao: I'm sticking to the santa hat with mickey ears instead!
