Do you have any odd/quirky songs or albums/CD's you listen to that you think no one else has ever heard of? I do..
My parents went to College in the early 60's and loved the band The Kingston Trio. I grew up listening to this album at Christmas and still love it to this day...

My Dad made a cassette tape for me years ago and after he died I bought it on CD because I was afraid someday the tape would break. I prefer the tape because I like to hear the crackles that you hear while listening to an album (it is all a part of this is how I heard it growing up!!)

So, am I the only one that listens to strange Christmas music??

I have a CD of Christmas music all done by Billy Idol.

I have a Frank Sinatra Christmas CD... and I used to listen to: The Percy Faith Orchestra, and Perry Como and Andy Williams....also The Carpenters Christmas Album.:thumbsup2

I heard that's pretty good!

My favorite version of O Holy Night ever was by Reba McIntire and on some $3 bargin bin cassette. It's so cool.

I have The Beatles Christmas album. It doesn't have actual songs, just some comedy bits and some short jingles.:santa:

Barenaked for the Holidays by the Barenaked Ladies is great.

I have Gene Autry's Christmas album. We had it growing up and I was thrilled when someone gave me the CD several years ago. We always play it while decorating the tree.

Has anyone ever heard/listened to "December" by George Winston? It is my favorite along with "A Charlie Brown Christmas" by Vince Guaraldi.

I have a 3-CD set from Projekt Records called "A Dark Noel." Some of the songs are very odd, such as "Jingle Bells" accompanied by a snowblower. However, I really enjoy "Carol of the Bells" done by This Ascension.

Anyone here listen to Mitch Miller? My DBF's family likes "Holiday Sing-Along with Mitch"...which is a blast from the past for me; my grandparents loved his albums! We have two of his Christmas albums, the one above, and "Christmas Sing-Along with Mitch"...

I LOVE the Mitch Miller Christmas Albums! I grew up on those and it just isn't Christmas without them. I also grew up listening to the Jim Reeves Christmas Album. I found it a few years ago in a CD store in an airport of all places and gave a copy of it to my parents. Mom said it was one of the best Christmas presents she could have ever gotten.

December by George Winston is also one of my favorites. My youngest sister is 13 years younger than I. When she was really little she had trouble falling asleep on Christmas Eve. One Christmas I put that CD in to play as we fell asleep. From that Christmas on she had to have it each and every Christmas Eve. To this day it is still one of her ( and my ) favorites.

I still have The Little Drummer Boy, Harry Simeone Choral

I also love I Believe in Father Christmas by Emerson, Lake & Palmer.

These are probably my favorite holiday songs! Loved them as a kid and love them now!!
We all definitely "sung along with Mitch" at my house growing up---and none of us can carry a tune in a bucket!

My favorite odd one is by Loretta Lynn. The whole album which I have on cassette tape but would love to have the CD.
Love to sing, "To Heck with ol' Santa Claus".

It's "OK"... depends on the individual songs, really.

I have and love both of those. I just bought a Christmas CD by Straight No Chaser, an a cappella group. Haven't listened to it all yet...

I grew up listening to The Sal Sol Orchestra christmas album and I love it to pieces!!

Me, too!:) I prefer the first several years ('63-'66). After that it was kind of sad that they did their individual greetings/bits separately. Still a lot of fun to listen to, though.

I LOVE Ringo Starr's "I Wanna Be Santa Claus" CD. Very upbeat and of course, has terrific drumming by Ringo. My favorite tracks are Come On Christmas, Christmas Come on, The Little Drummer Boy, and The Christmas Dance. Ringo also does Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer adding a few comical twists.:)

Probably my favorite Christmas album of all time is The Ventures Christmas Album. I grew up listening to this, then eventually found it on cassette tape, and now I have it on a CD.

I also really like the soundtrack CD of Christmas With the Kranks.

I have a copy of "Happy X-mas (War is Over)" by The Fray that I absolutely love.

my favorites :)

Christmas with the Canadian Brass - Canadian Brass, brass quintet and organ
A Christmas Celebration - Kathleen Battle
A Christmas Treasure - Julie Andrews (we had this on a Firestone LP from 1967 when I was growing up. The first time I saw the CD I bought 2 and gave one to my mom)
A Dave Brubeck Christmas - Dave Brubeck, jazzy solo piano - very good background music

I listen to a lot of pop/rock/folk/contemp. Christian music most of the year, but Christmas is when the music major in me comes out of lurkdom and most of my favorites are in the classical music vein.

I could happily go years without hearing another Fresh Aire/Manheim Steamroller christmas song...
