Good morning, DISers. Alas, the day I have been dreading since Wednesday has arrived, my last full day at Disney. And I am saddened by that. But
My solo adventure takes a hiatus for the day, since I will be meeting up with some friends from home for the day.
(I just noticed that the views on my posts have declined as the days go on. Apparently my writing is slipping in the ratings war. Ah well, for those who have stuck with me, I commend you.)
Up early this morning to shower and head out to the Carribean Beach resort to pick up my friends Scott and Sheila. They are staying in Jamaica, which is a nice yellow building. I stayed in Aruba in October, and it was pink. I think thats the reason I didnt like it. And I dont dislike pink that much, it was just a bit too much pink for a hotel.
At 7:30 I picked up my friends and we headed back over to the Beach Club to walk over to Spoodles. A delicious breakfast later, (Spoodles is definitely a great breakfast spot, Ive eaten there several times,) the end of my breakfast is interrupted by my cell phone. This is not good. My parents and my sister are pretty much the only people who ever call my cell phone during the daytime. And theyre all in school right now, so it cant be any of them. Which means (DRAMATIC MUSIC HERE) work is calling. Now, theres a tradition at the place I work. I go to work, the servers run well. I go on vacation, the servers break. I did manage to avoid it on my last vacation, however this morning my luck ran out. After the call I realized I needed to head back to the room and log in to solve the issue that was going on. I made arrangements to call my friends later while they went off to MGM and I headed back to the room. (At least now I can justify the roaming charges on the wireless card for my laptop that Ive been using to post these reports. STICK IT TO THE MAN.) After an hour or so the problems were resolved, the laptop stowed and I started hoofing it over to MGM.
Once in, I called my friends who had just gotten on the Backlot Tour, so I headed over there to meet them. And who did I run into on the way? My favorite duck and his lady friend. Of course another picture had to be taken. (There should also be one on my PhotoPass link now as well.) And again, my Donalds Attitude Academy sweatshirt was on, so that got the thumbs up.
Back with my peeps, today was a moseying day. Sheila has some knee problems so there was no running allowed. We had PS for the Sci-Fi Drive-In in twenty minutes, so we decided to check out MuppetVision 3D first. What a great show. Im glad that Jim Henson was still around when this was made, Kermit just has never been quite the same since his passing. Bork bork bork!
Lunch at the Sci-Fi was fun, it was Sheilas first time. When did the waitstaff stop wearing roller skates? I bought my $5.99 glowing ice cube which came with a free soda (what a bargain!) in blue, since I already have a green one at home. Of course, I now had a cup to carry around with me the rest of the day like some sort of odd adult with a binkie.
Lunch was followed by the Drew Carey Sounds Dangerous show, which I had never seen before. Cute, not worth repeating though. A little disconcerting in the dark for 7 minutes. Not that the dark bothers me. Not at all. Im a grown man, I have no problem with the dark. Just have an affinity for a little light.
Stopped to take Sheilas photo with Minnie and Santa Goofy. She was so excited. Shes definitely a DISer even if shes not on these boards. She may be after this though.
We moved over to do a run on the ToT and RnRC for Scott and myself, Sheila wasnt interested. We did convince her to come through the line however, so she could see all the details of the hotel and the preshow while Scott played with her head that she was going to end up on the ride, and I kept trying to convince her she wasnt. At the front of the line, we went to load and Sheila was taken over to the chicken door, where I had to laugh as she asked the attendant if there was anything that was going to scare who through this door. Not a high thrills gal, that Sheila.
The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt show was next. Always fun to watch, the sets for this are amazing, the way they can change them so quickly during the show. Ive heard that this will probably go away after the new stunt show opens though, perhaps to be replaced with a copy of the Indiana Jones ride from Disneyland. Ive never ridden it, but I know that Dinosaur was based on the same ride mechanism (or vice versa) and I know people love it, so I wouldnt have a problem with it. The Indy show has had a great run.
The holiday parade was next, cute, though its just the Stars and Cars parade with holiday decorations and costumes. Different music too.
Dinner at the Prime Time Café, which is always fun. I love the food there, and its great when you get the right waiter or waitress. The best one I ever had was cousin Richard. Today we had cousin Craig. He was okay, named well, and a good waiter, just not very into the act, though. I spent the entire meal with my elbows on the table before finally being mildly reprimanded. We all cleaned our plates, so no airplanes for us. The pot roast is quite good.
A few shops and we headed over to Fantasmic. How to they get all those big things in and out of that rockface? Great show. Illuminations is my favorite, but this show holds its own by all means. We headed over and saw the Osbourne lights afterwards, which Scott and Sheila both enjoyed.
Since the park was closing we headed out and caught the ferry back to the Boardwalk where I took them over to Jellyrolls, of course. We only stayed about an hour as they were tired, but they both enjoyed it a lot. (And Tommy, one of the piano players commented, Hey, youre back, and youve got company! Good for you!) Brought them back to the Carribean Beach and then headed back to my room. Yes, I did not go back to Jellyrolls. For the fourth night. In a row. I would not have done that. Okay, so I did, and stayed until close again. Met a nice group of people at the table next to me, two of whom had gotten engaged. They invited me to dance with them several times. (They were quite intoxicated, but a lot of fun.)
And with that, my last full day was over. I headed back and started to write this, however exhaustion had overtaken me, so I had to put it off until I got home. Goodnight Disney World. Goodnight moon. Goodnight Krissa and your endless half hour loop (How do I get that channel added to my cable system?)
