Christmas Shopping 2010

My DD(turn 6 Dec 10) mentioned in Target that she would like to have these dolls
59.99 from Target.

But we noticed that they were missing Mulan and Pocahontas..
They also looked kinda "cheap" to me..

Has anyone bought these for your daughter and if so did you like them??

I found these at Disney.com but it is missing Tiana.

My other option would be to buy the dolls individual from Disney..
and they are on sale 2 for 20

What do you guys think?

I'm so excited!

I realized that I am D-O-N-E shopping for my mother, brother/wife, nephew! And I have "possible" gifts written down for most everyone else.

Yay!!

I am keeping a master list of what I have purchased and who it is for.

I am determined to get most of my shopping done early. This includes shopping for DS's birthday, which is in mid-December.

And a question.....

MIL??? FIL???

They are divorced. Both don't work (that is another story, unfortunately) and are always broke. I don't want to give MIL money because it will go towards drugs. I prefer not to give FIL money either.

Any ideas??? MIL is single, and FIL is married.

What about a gift certificate for a restaurant if they don't have much money it might be a treat to go out and eat.

I got Kits Desk for $30 at a consignment shop
and AG Nellie doll for $60 :)

I went back and got Samantha's winter coat set for $12
and Kit's Pjs for $10

Well....I'm going to try to do this!!! In the past years I have LOVED participating in this thread adn others like it but I am at a loss this year!!! I have dd11 and dd9. DD 9 loves dolls but has given up, for the most part, playing with them (especially Barbies) because dd10 stopped. So...no clue. I do have some AG stuff that I will give her but not much. She really loves playing outside but I usually do not get outdoor stuff for the holidays because it is too cold/ snowy for them to use.

dd11 - she doesn't do toys anymore :sad2: I don't know what to do with her. She does LOVE legos (as does dd9) but boy are they a pain in the tush!!! I am constantly having to take them away because they leave them out all over the place! dd11 is into electronic stuff. She received a touch for her bday. I know I will do Itunes cards (for both). She sometimes plays with her DS so I will probably do games for them both. Neither has touched the WII recently. DD11 would love a cellphone and a tv for her room but I am not there. Don't know when we will do the phone and do not want a tv in the bedroom ....I'm stuck and will be looking at other posts for some type of idea. I feel so bah humbugish!!!! They are in that weird stage of too young for lots of things that they want and, apparently, too old for things I want to get for them.

We saw these today at TRU and I guess I will be running back over there tomorrow, maybe after I drop her off, they were so cute, but I don't see them any on TRU website, walmart, target, etc. Its on Amazon but double the price of what TRU had them for...maybe they are just hitting the US, as I found their website and they seem be over in Europe.

Here's the website for them in the UK, I found another website that said coming Fall 2010 for US

Teeny Little Families

DD really wanted one NOW lol, but I told her put it on the list, now i am hoping these things aren't hard to find.

My oldest daughter is 9 and she is also kinda between a kid and a teen, I guess thats why they call her a tween! :rotfl2: She really likes the Harumika sets, which are fashion sets that the manequin has a slit in the back and you can wrap fabric around, slide it in the slit and design lots of cute outfits. Its fun because its a toy, but more grown up than some toys.

Also, I am looking into a chemistry set. I think she would like that and its more grown up.

She loves her American Girl doll, and still plays with Barbies, but its amazing how quickly they grow up!

DH agrees with gift cards for MIL and FIL.

Yay!

And my 2 younger brothers will get Walmart GC's.

Now, to figure out what to get my dad...........

For my daughter who is 4 I got her the Squinkies gumball machine. She's got one of the bracelet sets and loves them so I got her one of the combo packs to put in the advent calender so it'll all kind of go together.

She's also getting a light bright, Richard Scarry's Busytown game, and a Cars game for the Playstation that I got on clearance at Target for like $5.

That's what I have gotten so far. I'm waiting to see what will pop up for sale after Thanksgiving.

I'm visiting my DBF in the UK early next month :dance3: he's mentioned Tesco before *I see that'S a place where they can be purchased. I'll have to check them out.

Oh, WOW, Amazon haad the Melissa and Doug fold up knight's castle reg $100 for $48 and free shipping. Got that for my 5 year old grandson...he will love it. Going to find some inexpensive knights and horses for it. I love M&D stuff...
I was at FAO Schwartz and they had this very large stuffed rock with little cubbies in it and zippers that had all kinds of little stuffed dinos in it...$69 but I didn't have the money then...found it on the TRU website...they own FAO now, and got it for $59. My 3 1/2 year old grandson will love that...he will probably try to hide his toy story figures in it!
I never thought to look at a consignment shop for AG...makes sense once a kid outgrows them. AG is a sickness just like Disney...love that stuff and it is so darn expensive.
Found a Stary Night by Van Goh (sp), knit long sleeve shirt for DD. She loves Vincent and she will love it. I love catalogs. They have such cool stuff!

:welcome: Beth!!! Glad to have you!! I agree with you on the niece!! I got a kick out of that!! I can just see this kid getting mouse ears and never having been to WDW with you!! As for your boys..you are right on..if that's all that they want, or need, then that's enough!! Especially with money tight this year, and if you are single, I don't know how so many moms do it!! I think they will love and appreciate whatever you can do!!! And as far as George Lucas--maybe you'll get lucky and he'll be reading this thread!!!!!:cutie:

Hi, Shawna! I'm glad you think the ears are a good idea! Actually, it's my niece's aunt on her dad's side who gets them the VIP tickets. They've only used them one time...and they go almost every summer! They went a couple weeks after we went in '09...and she demanded to go shopping in Newport rather than go to Disney. I'm SO lucky that my boys still enjoy doing things as a family!!!

Here's hoping you're right about George Lucas! LOL! My son did give me a back-up idea tonight. He would like a tank of liquid nitrogen. Seriously!!! This kid has never wanted anything normal. At 4 he wanted marionettes!!! I'm not so sure I'm going to be calling around to find the nitrogen, tho...it kind of scares me!

What about a gift certificate for a restaurant if they don't have much money it might be a treat to go out and eat.

Don't know how they'd take it...but you could give them a week off...pay for a cleaning service to come in one week and wash windows, scrub floors, etc. If they're older, it may be a great service for them!

Beth...what do you DO with a tankful of Nitrogen? Let's see....Nitrogen and George Lucas..:scratchin Wonder what his calling in life is going to be? I bet it's really cool--G.L. had to start somewhere too!!!!!!

This made me LOL! Can't imagine where you'd find liquid nitrogen! Some sort of science website maybe? Or maybe even a kitchen supply place-- I know using L.N. is the newest "trend" in cooking. How in the world did a four year old even hear of marionettes?? Thanks for the laughs!

I finished shopping for my 1 year old! :cool1:

I got her

Princess Kitchen

Princess Bowling Set

Princess Vacuum

80 piece Foam blocks

Ariel Cell Phone and case

and the free tea cart

all from Toys R Us, with the 20% discount, free shipping, free tea cart and the kitchen was on sale for 10 bucks off, I saved 85 bucks, and I only spent 110, with tax!

I already have her a little half tent Market and soft fabric food. I MAY get her a baby doll, (cause I love babies) and she is done!!!

Now on to my girls who are a little harder and much more expensive! :rotfl:

I'm looking for something to go along with a magnifying glass for the 3-5ish set. I found each niece and nephew a cute magnifying glass from Melissa and Doug, but can't think of anything else to add to it, except maybe bugs or a gift card to a book store? I'm stumped, but DD really wants to give them the magnifying glasses so I have to think of something.

Maybe a grocery store gift card or a gas card?

If you don't want to do the liquid nitrogen, there's always dry ice. It won't last more than a day, but it's relatively cheap and it's pretty cool to play with. When I needed some I just googled dry ice in my zipcode and found a bunch of places that carried it for sale.

One year my sister gave my boys each a "spy kit" that she put together. It included a magnifying glass, binoculars and a head lamp. I'm not sure if spies actually use head lamps (:confused3), but they LOVED them and still use them 5+ years later. Another good companion to a magnifying glass would be an Eye Spy or Where's Waldo book.

I got some more shopping done yesterday. I got DS11 the Karate Kid movie (new one) as he asked for it plus I had a 40% off coupon for Borders and used it on Harry Potter Lego Game. I also bought him Harry Potter Lego DS Game. He is slowly getting done. So far I have bought the kids:

DS11
MP3 Player
Prince of Persia guy
3 lego mini figures
Legos - Swap Racer
Lego mini sticker book
Harry Potter DS Game
Harry Potter Lego Game
Karate Kid Movie

DS9
3 lego mini figures
Lego - Airplane
Lego - Miners Set
SW Sticker Book
TS3 Movie - preorder

DD
Dog socks
CD Player
bouncy ball - big one you sit on and bounce
tink pixos
tinkerbell movie
zoobles
tink watch
play doh doggie set
Princess sticker book
lotion
journal
body wash
sponge
2 little petshop guys
Doggie book

As you can tell I am struggling with what to get DS9. DD is easy she loves anything with dogs. Some of her items will actually go into her stocking. Plus her birthday is Dec. 24th so I am buying for both. DS9's birthday is Dec. 30th so I really need to get some ideas for him. It really helps me when people post what they bought or what their kids want. Pretty soon the black friday ad will be popping up and maybe that will help as well.
