Christmas Shopping 2010

I heard somewhere ( don't remember where) that sing-a-ma-jigs were going to be a hot toy this year. So I went out and got those already. I love these things.

I bought two of these for my DS and DD. I thought DS might be a little old for them but the cashier talked me into it she also thought it was going to be the "it" toy this year.

Okay, I'm going to need a description of this item!! What is it and what age would it be good for?

I thought of something for DD7 - a case for her DS. We will probably get her an inexpensive digital camera too. DD9 has our old one and she was quite jealous on our last vacation.
I need ideas for DD9!!!

They are these little plush toys and when you squeeze their belly they sing in different octives and their mouth moves. They don't say words it is more like someone practicing their voice before singing like, La, laa, laaa. And when you have more than one they are like a chorus. You could probably google them to get a picture. I got mine at babies r us, I thought it was a baby toy but I can see older kids likeing them as a stocking stuffer but they are $12.99kinda expensive for a stocking stuffer that isn't a movie.

They do sing songs too( each one sings a diferent song) you squeeze their hands their modes change. You can see them in action on you tube. They have them in CVS too

Thank you! I guess they aren't what my girls would be interested in. Plus, I'm trying to stay away from anything remotely like a stuffed animal! I think they're going to take over our house! Dang Webkinz!

Amen! We are going to be overtaken with stuffies! I need a good storage option for them.

I got another gift ordered yesterday, graveyardmall had some things on sale so I got my niece a Melissa and Doug fold and go stable for $20 shipped. I had originally planned to get her a leapster, but I liked the price of this better and I know her parents like Melissa and Doug toys for her so I changed my mind.

I also found a scarf in my closet that I bought after Christmas last year for my DD so that's another gift down for her.

I keep looking at netbooks since I need to buy two, it looks like they'll be around $250-$300. Do you think I can get a better price than that if I wait?

Looking for Zoobles today at Walmart, I ran across another toy that looked like furreal friends fish the size of squinkies. You buy aquariums and they sing and talk and interact the more you use them. Does anyone know what these are called? I meant to write the name down to google later, but slipped my mind.

FOUND IT! WowWee Fin Fin. Check it out. Kinda cute.

That sounds really cute, I'm going to have to look that up :thumbsup2

i hate to admit, but im one of those that starts the day after xmas. if i see it on clearance im snagging it. almost all of mine is done now. were aiming for a small xmas after being to disney last october, this past april and again in feb next year. all i really need are stocking stuffers and a big gift for ds from santa.

I'm new here, but I wanted to join in! I absolutely love Christmas. Been talking about it since July, and driving my boyfriend crazy, haha.

I've become weirdly obsessed with Christmas tree ornaments. I guess it's because I'm hoping to move out in a few years, and want to have some of my own. I begged my boyfriend to buy me two ornaments from etsy, and he finally did. Haha they're so cute. One is a clay santa ornament. He has a clear ball as his tummy, and it has clay cookies in the tummy. The other is the same style, but is actually a mouse with cheese in his tummy. Haven't got them yet, but they look so adorable.

I don't have many people to buy for, but I'm in nursing school and on a limited budget so I start thinking/saving early! Will post more later. Love this thread! :)

That's a good price for the netbooks. I think you *could* get a better price but for what model and what features, yk? I paid around $400? for DD's netbook from Best Buy and that includes a 2yr 'fix anything' warranty. I made sure it covered any fits of teenaged rage too. ;) And they've already had to fix it since she managed to break the keyboard, hinges and the hard drive. So well worth the warranty investment! LOL

Just a heads up on the netbooks. Make sure to burn the recovery disc immediately after purchasing if it doesn't come with it. If they have to replace the hard drive, that will be required of you to provide and it can be pricey to get from the computer companies.

:welcome: to all of you new people!!!! Glad you came over!! With Christmas just under 4 months away, many of you are close to being finished, or you are finished already!!! WooooHoooo!!!!! Way to go!!! I will be focusing on our lists next week when we are on a break from school....also my snx and toiletry lists for vacation!!!!! I was planning to relax as much as possible...so I guess we can work on it while we lay in my bed and watch old Disney movies!!!:happytv:
We are having some fall-ish weather today, so that helps!! Plus I just started burning my new fall candles from Bath and Body!!:yay: Really helps me think..it's NOT summer!!! Even tho the last few days were super-duper hot again!!!! But, now that all the kids here have started school, I know walmart will start putting out Christmas stuff...one side has Halloween and a few aisles over is :santa:....Well...ya'll keep talkin Stockin' Stuffers...I have to go :teacher: and clean this house!!!

Ok, so the WowWee Fin Fin things sound cute. My kids just love all that cute little stuff. This year's going to be the easiest to buy for them. They want all these cute little character things coming out.

I am going out christmas shopping tomorrow morning, i'm very excited, although it does feel odd because we are in a heat wave. Today I believe is going to be 95. It's been in the mid 90s since sunday. We'll get our break from the heat after we get all of the effects from Hurricane Earl on Friday. Not that i'm looking forward to that :scared1: I never start my shopping this early, so it's funny that i'll be sweating my rear end off bringing my bags to the truck  That's ok, super excited to get a good start!

Ok, i'm not even asking my girls if they want the WowWee Fin Fins. I already know the answer. They are adorable, they're going to LOVE them. I'm putting them on the list and we'll see how long it takes for them to discover them. I haven't seen any commercials yet. They are not available online at toysrus or walmart yet either. I'll have to look tomorrow while i'm out.

Thanks for that!

I hit up the back to school clearance in Walgreens and got some stocking stuffers - pens, mini staplers, etc. I also picked up 2 dry erase lap boards at 50% off. I think I might give these to the kids before the trip, as we're driving down to WDW on December 16. Maybe they could be St. Nicholas presents in preparation for the trip. I usually do "road presents" for the long drive, but I just finished telling DH I should limit those with having to stuff stockings. And now I just bought stuff :lmao:

They are on TRU .com . I tried to find reviews but I can only see the 1 review on TRU for it which isn't a very good one.

Just read that review. Sounds a lot like the zhu zhu reviews. My kids still like the hamsters even though they are not perfect.
Speaking of zhu zhus...Justice has them 50% off and I have another 40% coupon I can use. Does anyone know if the kung zhu hamsters work in the regular playset and vice versa?
