Christmas Shopping '09

I became a vegetarian 6 months ago and I am teasing everyone that we will be having tofurkey for dinner. No one thinks its funny but me! :lmao:

I ordered my sis and bil a Da vinci code board game for 15 bucks, free shipping from target and found some great coupons for more Target stuff. I also got in on that $10 dvd deal from Walmart and ordered my kids G force and my step-sister and step -brother Star Trek and Night at the Museum, and My sis Harry Potter. I may have got me a Star Trek and Harry Potter too!

These bargains are driving me to the poor house! :rotfl:

I love the idea of prepping stuff now for Thanksgiving. With Kevin coming home I dont want to spend all his time here cooking. I think I will make a list tonight off all I can prep ahead of time.

By the way, I LOVE my lists! Sometimes I rewrite the list just for fun! :) My hubby thinks I am so funny. I always have 10 tablets around me with lists for everything under the sun. You think I would be more organized!

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to ask if anyone knows where I can find some reasonably priced Calico Critters. They are so expensive!!! Anyone know of any websites, stores, coupons, sales, etc.

My DDs LOVE them and I would love to get a few for them without breaking the bank;)

Thanks!

I have seen them every once in a while at Marshalls/TJ Maxx. Here are some on Amazon, which if you follow some links, may or MAY NOT lead you to other online sources at better prices!

I usually just eat all the different sides and I am fine. Trader Joe's has a great tofu turkey roast. Even my carnivorous husband likes it.

Finished DD6 today!:banana::banana::banana:
I picked up the tinkerbell balloon playset at kmart. She saw it the other day and loved it and I tried to find it online and most placed didn't have it, so went out and picked it up. Just some chocolate for the stocking!

DD14 is almost done. I picked up a cooling fan for her laptop on sale at target today. Had a $15 coupon for express so I ordered her a wristlet bag for 75 cents plus shipping! Not too shabby! Not sure what else i want to pick up or her. Trying to wait a few weeks till the southern christmas show. Hopefully I can stay away from the stores

Still have MIL, dh and BIL. Have no clue! Plus df has a birthday on Christmas Eve.

I just gave in and got DH an ipod touch. I say "gave in" because I'm old fashioned at heart and really not into all these little technological devices everyone has (I don't even have a cell phone)! But he's been wanting one for a while. I got an older model; that's my compromise so I can still stay true to my anti-technology side :lmao: Anyway, I couldn't justify spending the big bucks on a newer one. I got it refurbished for only $159  through the apple website. He's going to be so surprised since he knows I don't like them. The Christmas spirit does strange things to a person :santa:

What are your thoughts on the Leap Frog Tag reader system?

I can't tell you anything about the Tag system yet but I just bought one yesterday. I wanted to share this deal with you and anyone else who is looking for one! I bought a Leap Frog Tag reader system at Target for only $19.99! I used a $10 off coupon from Target (you can get them online or from their Toy Book brochure) and I also downloaded a $10 off coupon from Leap Frog's website. Right now, the Tag is $39.99 at Target but with both coupons, it was only $19.99!

Leap Frog also has $3 off coupons for the Tag books on their site too. Target had the Green Eggs and Ham book on sale for $8.99 so I was able to get it for only $5.99 after coupon! I think the books are usually $13-15. If anyone else knows of any place to get good deals on other Tag books, I'd love to hear about them!

Morning Ladies!!!! You are all on the ball!!! Way to go!!!! I am just waiting on DDs AG to come in....dh is gonna pick up an amp and some guitar stuff for me for ds13 and hide it at his office. I think ds10 needs one more Lego and that's it!!!!
Well... I would like for dh to get the lights out this weekend and make sure they work...if not, next weekend at the latest!!!!
Well....here we are....Christmas is now in

7 WEEKS:santa:

Hi! I am joining in now that I have a lot of shopping done for my kids. DS 8: NBA 2K9 for PS3, Mario/Sonic winter Olympics for DS, the Mexican Train game, new Diary of a Wimpy Kid book. DD6: Hannah Montana Karaoke machine with camera, Hannah tent w/sleeping bag, pj's, I-Carly game for DS. It is coming fast!!!

I'm getting tired of shopping so I sat down today and ordered a bunch of gifts all at once when some of the more pricey ones went on sale. I got:

DS5--Handy Manny tool bench and a ripstick. I realize the ripsticks are meant for older kids, however my DS is VERY athletic, has bored of his skateboard and will take his older brother's if I don't get him one, too. I'm done shopping for him now.

DS8-nothing today, but I need one more gift for him.

DS10-U-create music, a Kodak flip-type camcorder and snap circuits. I'm going to get him a fishing pole and pajamas, then he's done.

DS11-a ripstick, a kodak flip-type camcorder, and Shadow of the Hedgehog for PS2. I would like to get him one more thing, but I'm not sure what yet.

DD13-a carniverous plant terranium thing, Kingdom Hearts for ds and a Pokemon ds game she asked for, I can't remember now what it's called. I still need a couple more things for her as well, I'm not sure what.

DH-an ipod itouch. I'm not very tech saavy, I know he wanted one, but I hope the one I got him has enough memory, it was the cheapest one. If not he can always upgrade and pass that one on to one of the kids I guess. I have one more thing I want to get him, a craftsman tool, then just stocking stuffers. Maybe I should get something to start his heart again after he sees the credit card statement from my shopping spree today :rotfl2:

Oh, and I bought myself a new sweeper, not a Dyson like I would've liked, but a nice Bissel that's still an upgrade from my 5 year old one that doesn't work anymore. It's not for Christmas, I get that one now.

I"m trying to decide if I should get ds11 the madden10 game for the wii. He has the madden 09 and he LOVES it, but I think he would really like the updated version. What do you guys think?

What do you all think of these two castles? I love them both for different reasons, I like that furniture comes with one but the other has a music box. I also wonder if a child will really think they're fun. YKWIM?

When the boys were little it was so much easier. Just get them cars and racetracks, they were happy! LOL

We have a smaller version of the second castle and the girls play with it nonstop. After 2 years my DH had to put some screws in it to keep it together and now it's as good as new. It's their favorite toy!

I'm so inspired by this thread. I'm jumping on the bandwagon - looks like I have some catching up to do!

I just bought DD5 (until Monday) The Princess and the Frog Tag book at Toys R Us for $9.99. I believe the sign said all the Tag books were on sale...I only bought that one since I had already bought her and DS7 a bunch of TAG books at TRU when they were on sale Buy 2 Get 1 free.

Thanks for the tip on the coupons...I may have to go get one for my nephew..he is only going to be 3 but loves to look at books.

Oh ladies!!!! I went through the AG box last night that came in!!!! Iwanted to make sure all her stuff was in there.....that Just Like You doll is soooo stinkin' cute!!! I love that stuff!! It listed on my shipment conf. that it was 2 boxes, but it came in one big one!!!!! so, I don't know if I posted or not, but what I had thought about doing was putting all the kids wrapped gifts in one big box and wrapping it, so they would not know what was in it....well, this box is perfect for sure!!!! Ha!! I might just wrap the doll alone, then put the other stuff in a smaller box, and save this bigger one for DS10s Legos!!!! It's got packing peanuts, so that will stifle the sound for sure.
I am so excited!! A true little girl at heart!! that's me:goodvibes
I am gonna try to go to TRU today and get one more Lego....Dh is gonna def pick up the guitar amp for me....so...after that I am finished with the kids!
Now...what in the world to get my DH!!!! I ask him and every year I get the same answer......"I dont need anything" or "I have ya'll and everything I want"...but I always tell him the kids need to see him get something or they think he is left out!!! So....I gotta work on him for that.

Advise your DH that if he won't cooperate, it will be a socks and underwear Christmas for him!!! Maybe you can surprise him with something he doesn't even know he wants, like an MP3 player, digital photo key fob, a wii game just for him, book on CD if he commutes, etc!! Anyway, the threat of socks and underwear is just like coal around here!!!

Yesterday we went to dd8's school Fall Festival. It is HUGE and they always have wonderful baskets and you can put raffle tix in for the basket that you want. They had a huge basket with 2 AG dolls plus outfits, games, a photo shoot with the doll and a couple other things (truly they could have made 2 baskets out of that one). The AG dolls were Josefina which DD8 has and Rebecca which dd10 wants more than anything. We bought tons of raffle tix and dd10 used all of hers for that basket. She went back 3 or 4 different times so that her tix would be mixed in throughout the basket. Nothing...we got nothing. Not that basket, not the one dd8 wanted with tons of barbies and webkinz, not the dsi basket...nothing. I have never seen dd10 so sad! She wants Rebecca more than anything soooooooooo here is the dilemma: I am tired of buying AG dolls! DD10 has Addy and Ivy. DD8 has Josefina, bitty twins and Sonali (which she used $60 of her own earned $$ to purchase). I think they should have to earn their dolls from here on out. But I am close to caving with the way that poor kiddo looked yesterday. She is 10, this won't last long but....same applies to the negative, she is 10, this won't last long and another doll for just, probably, one more year of play?
Thoughts? I did purchase accessories this year and bought a $25.00 gc for AG for both. My mom will probably give each grandkid a $20.00 visa gc. I could just do another $25.00 AG gc and then she would have to earn/ save about $30 if she really wants it.

I think if the majority of her Christmas has been bought, and you don't want to purchase any more...give her another gc and let her only have to work for part of the money. I too think that Rebecca doll is awesome! LOL... besides, I know there are grown women who have kept their dolls from childhool,or just now started collecting them. You are right...she won't be little forever, so I think indulge her a little now...you might look back and wish you had let her have her if you decide not too. But, if she has to put part of the money out for it, it'll mean more to her!!! I am sorry she was so disappointed yesterday...that's the pits!

Let me preface this by saying that DH says I'm a big pushover, especially with our kids.

I would buy it for her if I could. My DD never had an AG doll so I'm going by what I've heard about them on the boards so correct me if I'm wrong, but if these dolls are as nice as I've heard it seems to me that when she stops playing with them they're something that could be put on a shelf with a doll stand, then taken down for her own kids to play with someday. Keep her young as long you can! So that's my vote.

Ditto!!!!:thumbsup2 I was gonna say earlier...do you have any stands? I am about to order two for our dolls...they are so cute sitting on her bed..but when she isn't playing with them, I think I would rather them be on that....makes 'em last longer!!!
