We are staying one night at Pop Century in December before our (Shhhh!) Universal Resort package starts, and I am looking for recommendations on how best to tour the deluxe resorts to check out the Christmas decorations! We have a 3:30PM T-Rex reservation and plan on checking out Downtown Disney before hand. I want to then start at a resort and ride the monorail or boats around to the others. I am looking at either ending the night on the beach at the Poly with a Dole Whip watching the Electrical Water Pageant and Fireworks OR hanging out with Chip and Dale at The Wilderness Lodge Campfire. Anyone have any trip reports on "Free" things to do at the resorts that you have enjoyed the most? How about favorite snacks to try out while we tour around? Thanks so much!

You can view the animals with night vision goggles at AKL. The mara has an awesome BBQ chicken flatbread!

With the limited amount of time you have and where you want to end up, I'd limit this to the monorail resorts. Taking into account your meal, DTD exploration and using a bus to get to the MK area after, you are already looking at not starting this tour until probably 1930 at the very earliest.

If you check out disneytouristblog, there is a great write up on how best to tour Xmas decorations using disney transportation.

You could end the night getting after dinner drinks at the California Grill and watching Fireworks from the balcony up there. Or grab some amazing cupcakes from the Contemporary's food court and watch the fireworks from the 4th floor. I know everyone is all about watching fireworks from the Poly but I'm partial to the Contemporary.

You could also go to the Boardwalk for some free night time entertainment and grab dessert from the Boardwalk bakery.

I loved going to the Contemporary, and the Grand Floridian. Their gingerbread house is amazing and the Christmas spirit is definitely in the air. I would also say to not miss going to the Fort Wilderness Campground. People decorate their areas and it is just so beautiful.
