Christmas questions

Hi -

we think we may bring our next visit forward to Christmas. I'm struggling however to find detail on festive meals available - the Disney call centre people don't seem too informative. Apparently, although you can book now (and have been able to do so since 9th June), the details aren't fully available until the brochure is released on 20th July.

We think we'd probably like to eat Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Inventions, but can't get a definitive answer as to whether there will be characters there and whether there are special menus. We definitely want Christmas lunch with characters so would go elsewhere.

Also, does anyone know anything about the Tinkerbell show and whether its worth doing?

I know there's been other threads trying to get festive meal info, so wonder if anyone has managed to find out more info since then

Thanks

A

I went to the Tinkerbell show a couple of years ago and i didn't like. The food was good (well the french people liked it) but for me it was awful. The show was good, really good but there were way to many people and it reminded me of a big dinner for homeless people in a big gym hall... :(
well just my oppinion...

thanks for that -

thought it might be a bit like that, so will probably give it a miss

We did the Tinkerbell show and although we really enjoyed it, it is very expensive so we went on one of the cheaper evenings to keep the cost down. We were advised to get there early and were the first in the queue a whole hour beforehand and we still didn't get the very best tables as these were reserved for disabled guests. We did have a very good table in the front to the left, although I cannot imagine how the guests seated near the back of the room could see the show without binoculars. :confused3 Like the_princess said, the room is absolutely huge so if you do decide to go you must get there early to get a decent view.
Here is my trip report of it.

We ate our Christmas Day lunch at Lucky Nugget. It was just the usual character buffet but they really made an effort to make it special without charging any extra. Last year Cafe Mickey were also charging normal prices for their character meals on Christmas Day. :goodvibes

Thanks for useful info Ware Bears and link to your trip report. We've booked for 5 nights from 23rd Dec at DLH (castle club fully booked).

Booked Christmas Eve buffet at Inventions but decided to wait to book anything else until the brochure arrives.

Has anyone done the Christmas Day character buffet at HNY?

sounds like a great trip. :thumbsup2

Shame about CC, I heard CC was booked up within the first couple of days that went on sale however Christmas at the DLH is sure to be magical anyway.

We did toy with doing this and managed to find a poster on another forum who had been the previous year. She had enjoyed it and said the food was wonderful but that it was very very busy and she didn't really think it was worth the money unless you were a heavy drinker! ;) Obviously unlimited drinks must be included! :drinking1 She said the characters sang carols and afterwards were then besieged by children :scared1: but there was no individual character interaction at your table like you get at usual character meals. This was the deciding factor for us so we went to the Lucky Nugget instead and had a fab time there!

Ok -

There seems to be relatively little info on this and other boards on the special Christmas meals (apart from Ware Bears excellent report on the Tink show). So, purely in the interest of research you understand I think we're going to try them all so we can report back on their relative merits. Waiting for our winter brochure but think we will book as follows:

23rd - Inventions
24th - Inventions festive buffet
25th - HNY character festive buffet
26th - California Grill
27th - Tinkerbell show
28th late lunch - probably Walts unless anyone wants to persuade us we should definitely try Auberge de Cendrillon or Blue Lagoon (we love POTC but that strange chloriney smell you get on Water rides uts us off eating there a bit)

sounds like a great trip - good restaurant choices I think :) My friend saw the Tink show last year and loved it - he said it made him fall in love with Tink and the food was great, so I think it will be an experience.

Do you recommend Walts as I am thinking of taking my mum for a posh meal there in Aug?

Definitely recommend Walts. we couldn't believe the standard of the food we were eating inside a theme park. Tomato tartare starter is brill. Carafe of house wine also good and v. good value. If you time your visit right and get a window seat you can watch the parade. Alternatively go a bit earlier and when you come out you're right in a good viewing spot (providing its not too busy)

I agree, Walt's is a great restaurant, I have been twice and now it is something we plan to do on our last day on every trip. even my four year old dd loved it there and it not really themed for children.

I don't think its too expensive either especially considering the quality of the food.

Look forward to hearing all about it. Sounds a great trip :goodvibes

Hello,

We have also booked for christmas (22nd - 27th December) and we have gone for the xmas day character buffet at Hotel New York although we did have problems convincing our travel agent that it was available to book! We have been to DLP once before and we have also been to Orlando but we have never done a disney christmas before and we can't wait. We wanted to eat at the Blue Lagoon last time but couldn't get a slot to fit around the kids (they were only 1 & 2 at the time) and we were thinking of booking it for Boxing Day - does anyone know if there will be an additional cost then and also can we ring and book in advance (like you can in Orlando)?

This is the menu of Inventions last Christmas.

I did not save them all, but in time all the menu`s for Christmas will be available.
I`ll post them as soon there available

Thanks for that. It really got our mouths watering (and made us look up a few french words - but I think we understood most of it). Will the menus for this year get posted on the official DLP site closer to the time?

A friend of mine got it on special request.
Hopefully it will be available this year.
