I'm booked for Contemporary 12/17-21, but wonder if that's the best deluxe for the time and get Christmas magic??? OR is WL, Poly, GF or Beach Club better?
We're love MK and HS for parks, but eating a few times at Epcot.
Looking for convenience, updated room, Christmas appeal.
We're eating already at 1900 Park and Cape May, so we will be able to see GF and BC at some point.
So should I stay put at Contemporary or move???

So many great places and just don't know where to go!

Personally, I think the GF has the best Christmas atmosphere but you will be on the monorail route so you'll be able to go visit each and every one (which I would definitely make time to do.) Also, since you're at the contemporary, take a boat over to Fort Wilderness and walk around some of the campsites. People really go all out decorating their campsites at Christmas and it's well worth a trip over there. Hope that helps!

All of the resorts are nicely decorated (some more than others), but there are some that are just amazing, IMO (WL and GF being two of them). I agree with the pp that you can always visit the other resorts to see those decorations, so if the CR is a resort you've always wanted to stay at, I'd stick with it and plan to visit the others. With that said, my personal favorites during the holidays are the WL and GF as the decorations at both are amazing and both have very festive atmospheres. However, the WL is getting ready to undergo construction, so that might enter into your decision if you did decide to change resorts. Good luck.

Yeah I think CR would be good for the sake of taking the monorail to the other monorail line resorts and then they could take the boat to WL and the Fort. I hadn't been planning to go to Disney for Christmas this year but I've gotta say, I'm thinking more and more about it lol. I haven't been to Disney for Christmas since probably 2008 so I'm overdue.

Thanks everyone! I have it narrowed down to Contemporary, Beach Club and Poly Villa. So many great places... Just need to pick one and stay with it! :)

CR isn't much for Christmas décor but is great otherwise and is a great location at Christmas because of the ability to walk to/from the MK. WL, GF, and BC have better decorations but as has been mentioned you can always visit them while staying at the Contempo.

Good point about being at the CR and having the boat to WL and FW :thumbsup2.

Our last trip in December was in 2010 and I'm itching to get back as Disney at Christmas time is probably my favorite time of year to visit :santa:. Hope you are able to get back that time of year soon!

Good luck deciding, although I'm sure you'll have a great time no matter which resort you choose :goodvibes.

After researching and reading til my eyes hurt, I think I'm down to Beach Club or Poly Villa. Contemporary, tho convenient just doesn't get me the fuzzy feel I want for Christmas. It's a surprise for our girls, so I'm way overthinking it and figure they'll be happy with whatever we pick because it's Disney. But I want it PERFECT. So votes...BC or Poly Villa - and why?

After my first Xmas time stay was at a resort without a big decoration hoopla, I swore if I went back in Dec I would stay at a "major gingerbread hotel". But I opted for the Poly, which is not a gingerbread resort because I realized what a zoo the displays created in the lobbies. You have this giant thing taking up a large section of space, the only resort big enough not lose 1/4 of its lobby to gingerbread is the GF, and then you have all these extra people in the lobby to see the gingerbread. At AKL they had a photog with their tree so in addition to a big a** tree in the way and all the gawkers, you had to step around the photog and make sure you weren't getting in his shot.

BC has the gingerbread carousel which I loved, but its tree was small and decorated in fish. Pretty but not real Christmasy. I don't think the Poly does much.

If you have more patience than me, go for BC and the gorgeous carousel (bring hershey bars when viewing it because it smells of chocolate and makes you hungry lol). If you want a less chaotic lobby go for the Poly.

My vote would be for either the GF or WL because they are amazing at Christmas. We have done both, and they absolutely give you that Christmas feel when you walk into the lobby like nowhere else. If I had to choose between Beach Club and Poly Villa at Christmas time, I would probably pick Poly Villa, but mostly because it is closer to GF and WL for you to visit those resorts, and you said you are most interested in MK. From the Poly you can also walk to the TTC and grab the express monorail to Epcot which is great. We really loved being able to bypass the resort line to go to EPCOT in the mornings from there. We have stayed there in the Christmas season (before the remodel though) and there were decorations and it was festive, but nothing near the feel of the GF and WL. As far as the BC, we have also stayed there, and it is a great resort (I'm allergic to the scent the pipe into the lobby, but I'm not sure they even use that scent at Christmas- might be Gingerbread instead like the GF). It is great to be able to walk to EPCOT and DHS. We have walked through that lobby at Christmastime, but have not stayed there in the Holiday seasons. They do have the gingerbread carousel which is really neat, but again, the decorations just aren't as awe inspiring as GL or WL. GF even has the live band playing Christmas music in the evenings. When we have stated at WL or GF during the holiday season, I try to grab at least 15 or 30 minutes at some point just to sit in the lobby and soak it all in. Since you are talking about this holiday season, there may not even be anything left at WL or GF, they usually book up the fastest. You really can't go wrong with any of them. They are all great resorts and Disney is magical at Christmastime!

WL was my original choice. Girls and I get awesome Christmas feel and the hubby gets the look of a lodge. But I started seeing all comments about construction starting this fall and just not sure I want to go thru that or see it! If there was no construction then WL would win hands down.

We've never tried the villas, but have stayed at both the Poly and BC and my choice would be the Poly without hesitation. We thought the BC was nice and I'm glad we tried it, but we prefer the MK area/monorail resorts to the Epcot area/resorts. We also think the monorail resorts have a greater variety of dining options (both CS & TS) and you can't beat seeing the castle every day (especially during the holidays).

The BC has nice XMAS decorations and you are attached to the YC so you get to see those as well. BW was ok IMHO. We went last year over Christmas week and stayed at the WL which was amazing with regards to XMAS decorations.

My only comment is that the BC is so super convenient to EPCOT which you said you were dining at a few times. I am guessing that the dining is in the WS so you can literally WALK and not have to take any transportation.

So my two cents:
BC - good for decorations and convenience
WL - great for decorations not convenient
GF - good for decorations and convenience
Poly - not great for decorations (we visited) and ok for convenience (I didn't mind walking to the TTC to get to EPCOT, but other members in my group did and they didn't like having to take two monorails.) Visited during XMAS, stayed over summer another time.
